Have you seen it?
Don't try to understand lol
Yes, I watched the whole release video yesterday. There was nothing that could not have been incorporated in a new updated TSW2 release.
We are being asked FOR THE THIRD TIME to pay a not inconsiderable sum for the privilege of being beta testers for DTG games. We can all see that the next step will be a repeat of this move in about 2 to 3 years time, with yet another TSW4 released, with vast promises of wonderful this and amazing that, but still looking uncannily like the last (also amazing) version.
SCS make Euro Truck and American Truck and somehow have managed to continuously update and improve the base game engine, release free trucks and go back and re-work older maps to bring them up to the quality of the newest DLC maps, also for free.
DTG are entitled to take the p*ss out of gamers, but maybe the market will send them a message that enough is enough? There's cynical and there's DTG...
I picked up TSW2 heavily discounted on sale a while back. Played it a few times, it's pretty to look at, but again the same issue with the lack of basic features such as a consist editor, and the lack of ability to drive whatever you want, wherever you want, really counts against it.
I stick with Train Simulator because it's just a better game. The announcement of TSW3 caught me by surprise. "What?!" I thought. "Really? Another game? Are you serious? They only just released TSW2, and now another game?"
So yeah, I guess I'm not the target audience for this. I don't know who is. I'd rather they just fixed TSW 1 and 2, by adding back the missing features that Train Simulator has had all along (Quick Drive, ability to drive anything anywhere, consist editor...).
No cessna, TSW3 a different game, not an update of TSW2. If you don't buy TSW3 there are no changes.
(If you buy TSW3 you can have them both installed.)
I don't want to get lost in all the discussions about DTG and TSW3. Just answering the question posed by cessna. On Steam TSW 2020, TSW 2 and TSW 3 are / will be different games.
Not to burst your bubble, but TSW2 and TSW3 are essentially the same, identical game, running on the same (outdated) game engine from a third-party developer and using the same assets. Otherwise DLC and add-ons from TSW2 would not function in TSW3 and the game achievements would not transfer over as well. They could have just as easily released it as an update instead of paid content, go and see SCS and their truck games for an example of keeping your customers happy and buying your product, keeping it financially viable.
I appreciate you are a lone voice defending DTG doing this, but they are absolutely treating their customers with disdain and taking them and their wallets for a ride. 3 beta versions making every player paying beta testers and multiple promises broken over 4 years is shameful, no matter what you say.
