Bakerloo Wheel Slip
Weather set to rain, but underground you get Wheel slip accelerating, is that considered a bug?

BTW, on any route when braking in wet conditions you're not supposed to get wheel slip right? If I get wheel slip I'm braking too harsh?

I don't think trains can lock the brakes. Wheel slip is normally an acceleration problem.

Odd, because I was braking on max brake in the Talent 2 in the rain and the HUD was showing wheel slip.

I don't know about in-game I was referring to real world.

There should be a difference between wheel slip and wheel slide. Wheel slip happens usually under initial acceleration, the wheels are spinning, but no grip is available. Wheel slide, is when the wheels lock while the train is moving. Slide can and does happen in reality, but it is less common these days because most units are fitted with wheel slip protection. It's worth noting that rain by itself in reality isn't a major factor in having either slip or slide because the rain on its own doesn't break traction between the wheels and the rail, it is a problem, however in areas with heavy leaf fall, particularly in autumn time because the wet leaves end up as a mushy mess on the rail. In fact in some parts of the UK, operators have to use a different "leaf fall" timetable at certain parts of the year to account for the adverse rail conditions.

I'm not sure about the DB stuff in the game, but I would assume they all have some form of WSP. On the UK side of things, the older locos and the Class 101 did not have such a feature, so if you experience slide under breaking, then yeah, you're breaking too heavily. If you're having trouble with it you should be breaking lighter and earlier than usual. Units like the 375/377 all have WSP protection I believe. I'm not sure about modern day operations under the privatised companies, but in the BR days drivers operating units with WSP were taught to put the brakes into maximum service and just allow the WSP to do its thing, according to a BR training video that can be found on youtube, anyway.

But to answer your initial question, I would think that it is a bug if you're getting a lot of slip/slide in the tunnels. I would expect maybe some poor rail condition around the entrances/exits of tunnels.... maybe, but after that it shouldn't be a factor.

Oh yes, of course wheel slip and slide are two different things, that thought never entered my head, how silly of me.

So it seems to be a bug. I'll take what you've said on board, thanks for the reply
