Maximum Permitted Speed Indicator Doesn't Change.
I'm playing Snow and Rain or Ice and Rain; I don't remember, but it's the one with the snow. Anyway, it's showing that the speed limit will increase to 100kmph within a certain distance. However, after crossing the distance, the Maximum Permitted Speed Indicator doesn't change.

I'm in an area where the speed increases to about 150kmph for about 200m, then a sudden drop in speed to about 70kmph. It's all over the place, and it's unreasonable to crank up the speed then slam the breaks. Is this a bug?

The Maximum Permitted Speed Indicator does work, but not always as indicated.

Sometimes the speed limit is all over the place. In 300m, drop down to 40kmph from like 100kmph. Lol.

I'm new to the game, so not sure if this is normal.

So I played another scenario, and the schedule and speed limit show 160kmph right out of the first station. But the MPSI is showing 40kmph. So then it shoots up to 70kmph, down to something else out of nowhere, catching me off guard, then back up to 70kmph, but the MPSI is showing something else.

The MPSI, the speed limit shown on the screen and the schedule aren't working together. Rapid drops follow up rapid spikes in speed. It's all over the place. I've stopped playing the game.

Lucky this game is on Gamepass. I'd be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bricks if I'd bought it.

These things happen. You need to know the route and act accordingly. Als the speed limit will chaneg when the end of the train is in the higher speed limit area. The HUD only shows track speed limits, not the speed limit for the engine or speed limits due to signalling.

I don't understand. I'll post a screenshot later to show you what I mean.

Sometimes your train can be in 3 different speed limit zones at the same time b/c of it's length. The next time through the route you'll learn to NOT chase the speed limits so closely but rather be satisfied with an average speed that keeps you from exceeding the limits too much while providing a comfortable ride for the passengers.

Here are my screenshots.

This image shows the speed limits on the overview page. You can see how the speed will go high then low, then high and low. It's all over the place.

This image shows that in 1.1km, the speed limit will be 250kmph. But the train that I'm driving has a max speed limit of 160kmph.

This image shows very closely speeds increasing and decreasing in the overview page. .

I don't understand what this all means. Sometimes the upcoming speed limit won't correspond with the MPSI. Sometimes the speed limit will show 160kpmh within a few meters of approaching the train station. I find it inconsistent. It doesn't make sense and it feels random.

It's very important to understand that the speed limit overview shows the max speed at a given location on the route that is set out for you. however It does not take into considerations temporary speed limits or the max speed allowed for your train.

In the last image there is a sudden drop in the speed limit before it arises again and this is most likely because you are traversing over a set of points. This is why it's important to understand signaling as there most likely was a signal ahead of the point telling you to go no faster than 40 km/h past this signal (hence overriding the track speed limit, though it is not shown on the overview).

Also speed limits above 160km/h are only allowed for trains with the LZB safety system like the ICE, and does not include the DB 442 Talent 2.

The developers made a pretty substantial tutorial covering both german signaling and safety systems. If you want to make more sense of the speed limits, then it might be worth watching.

Note that learning PZB might not be in everyones interest, but atleast watching the part about the different signaling aspects might be worthwille.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my comment. I'll take the time to watch the video. Hopefully, it will help me to understand the game better. I am a n00b at TSM 2, I'm playing it for the very first time on Game Pass.
