Speed limits
I notice that speed limits always take quite some time to be raised after passing markers. Is this something that's true to life or an error in the game?

This is normal, speed limits go up if the last wagon reached the area of the higer speed limit. Exception is Bakerloo line, where the fronty of the train sets the speed limit.

It is like in real life, the complete train has to pass the sign.

Wow, thanks! Every day is a learning day!

Other way around. If speed limit is reduced, the lower speed seems to count from the sign onwards and doesnt delay till the entire train passed.

Is this also realistic and am i right that you need good route knowledge to be able to stay within limits than?

Yeah, this is also realistic.

Standard railroad practice on both accounts

If your train spans two speed limit zones, the lower speed would be the limit for your train.

And the only real reason for that is that all Underground trains are 7 carriages long, thus the signs can be placed at the location where the front cab will be once the rear has left the area that requires the lower speed (say a tight bend or leaving a depot).

On most lines the length of the train is variable, so there is no consistent way of determining where the front of the train will be.

in USA route is a bit more clear to be get :)

speed limits for track/line
but you have and speed limits for train by signals and other loco spec limits
they no need to match :)
you ca be on fast line 120 km
but in same time to have signal limit 40 km

ofc game dont show that so popper
you can see it in GER yards very clear
where yard signal say 40 but game show you still the track speed
and when you hit the line of yard mark of the dev with 40 game
game change the showing speed
