Fully Fueled Sand Patch Grade mission traction issue
I mam having trouble completing the Fully Fueled mission. When I reach Hyndman at the 1.5% grade my locs start to wheelslip alot, so much that the train completely stops. I use throttle 8. Fully stopping with the brakes and then trying again, the train starts to go downhill, even with max throttle, or any one bellow max throttle, even when I use sanding with the Lead locomotive and Lead axle sand is on as well. Maybe my loc configuration is wrong? I have the following configuration:

SD40-2 Lead:
Engine Run: on
Generator Field: on
Control & Fuel Pump: on
Reverser: forward
Automatic Brake: Release
Cut-Off Valve: Freight
MU-2A Valve: Lead or Dead
Radio & HOTD: on

SD40-2 Trail:
Engine Run: on
Generator Field: off
Control & Fuel Pump: on
Reverser: Out
Automatic Brake: Handle Off
Cut-Off Valve: Cut-Out
MU-2A Valve: Trail 6 or 26
Radio & HOTD: on

GP38-2 Lead:
Engine Run: on
Generator Field: on
Control & Fuel Pump: on
Reverser: Neutral
Automatic Brake: Full Service
Cut-Off Valve: Cut-Out
MU-2A Valve: Trail 6 or 26
Radio & HOTD: on

GP38-2 Trail:
Engine Run: on
Generator Field: off
Control & Fuel Pump: on
Reverser: Out
Automatic Brake: Handle Off
Cut-Off Valve: Cut-Out
MU-2A Valve: Trail 6 or 26
Radio & HOTD: on

Your configuration is wrong AFAIK

Check the one by LeadCatcher or one of many posts on this forum about Fully fueled scenario

Locomotive 1 (LEAD):
MU-2A valve -> Lead or Dead
Cutoff Valve -> Freight
Engine Run , Generator Field ,Control & Fuel Pump: ON
Radio Circuit breaker -> On and DISP switch enabled

Locomotive 2 (TRAIL):
MU-2A valve -> TRAIL 6 OR 26
Cutoff Valve -> Cutout
Engine Run , Generator Field ,Control & Fuel Pump: OFF
Radio -> Off

Locomotive 3 (Should be setup as a lead train):
MU-2A valve -> Lead or Dead
Cutoff Valve -> Freight
Engine Run , Generator Field ,Control & Fuel Pump: ON
Radio -> On

Locomotive 4 (TRAIL):
MU-2A valve -> TRAIL 6 OR 26
Cutoff Valve -> Cutout
Engine Run , Generator Field ,Control & Fuel Pump: OFF
Radio -> Off

Additionally you have to turn on (beside radio fuse) Banking COM in both locomotives for this to work (yellow button on the left with "D I S P" letters). It is the device next to horn lever.

You're welcome! Enjoy the sim:steamhappy:

I had this few days ago. very frustrating because in the manual is nothing said about the yellow button (the fuse is mentioned) on the radio which is in real used for communicating with the dispatcher or other staff and not for radio control.
Also for the settings above you have to look into the manual of the "old" TSW, in the manual from TSW2 there's nothing with multi traction or DPU. And in the game you won't get noticed about the correct settings you have to make (set auto brake to full service and then go to lead loco...). With full service I didn't really had a chance to get the train to move and at that time I had no knowledge about the yellow button, found that somewhere after searching in internet and I had to run to the rear end not only one time.

You can also "fly" to the rear loco using camera 3 and set everything from outside:steammocking:

The solution given has also fixed the scenario for me thanks for the information

yup that's probably the best idea. plus I figured how to get inside the AC4400CW with the free camera.

You can also mimic the passenger camera from TS1 with some coaches. You just fly inside the coach through opened doors and still can operate locomotive:steammocking:

Hello again,
I am also having trouble with the Cumberland Charge mission. I have this same configuration with the locs. The GP-38 are at the front and the SD-40 at the back. Flying with the outside camera I can see that the back SD-40 is taking commands from the leas GP-38. When I reach 1.2% upward hill at throttle 8 I lose traction and get wheelslip until it just stops.
Please help, thank you very much

I have managed to get up to Sand Patch, where I have to stop to request a track warrant, thus stopping there at 1.2% grade I can no longer get going :(

I have found that the Banking Comm radio in the rear, lead loco must be OFf and the radio fuse ON in order for Distributed power to work in TSW 2. Everything else lead catcher says is correct.

Take a look at the american locomotives chapter. I created a table with the required configs on each locomotive and each group.

Train Sim World 2 and Train Sim World 2020 work slightly different when it comes to lead/trail and Distributed Power setups. TSW 2020 doesn't have working Banking Comm on/off buttons so only the radio fuses must be on in the lead locos only never the trail units (l mean the lead in each set of locos whether attached at the front or rear of the consist.) For TSW2: radio fuse and banking banking Comm must be on in the lead loco at the head of the train, but only the radio fuse and not the banking comm must be on in the lead loco at the rear of the consist. I suggest building a small consist in the scenario "Cumberland Switchback" and trying out settings where it is easier to experiment and learn what each combination of locos need for lead/trail and Distributed power to work properly.

I ran Fully Fueled and you can't have the lead DPU's brakes on or you get PCS open when you get to the front locomotive of the train. Everything else runs fine.
