Giving up for now...
Just follow step by step and don't touch the brakes or anything else during the Tutorials and it will work ;)
There were similar issues with almost all of the tutorials on Main-Spessart-Bahn and Ruhr-Sieg Nord. Some could be solved by simply starting over or increasing throttle to 100%.
Nonetheless it looks somewhat broken and not tested at all.
Activate Battery, sometimes you need to do this 2-3 times and then prepare the 146.2.
The Pantograph is a bit tricky too, be sure the pantograph is raised and the display shows power with the small blue square. Last step, get the marker in front of the loco and follow the remaining steps. Weird workaround i know.. but works ;)
And in one of my tries the tutorial stopped updating after the initial application of force (basically leaving my train with only throttle and no brakes). I'm pretty sure I encountered this bug in the original TSW aswell.
I was unable to replicate the problems that the OP had, as long as I got the train moving and got to the part where the train is coasting the brakes worked fine. Though the braking force did not show on the main display only on the gauges.
PS sry for bad englisch
I just started the first scenario of the Main-Spessart Bahn. Entering the train, pressing the battery switch for 5 seconds as I'm told to do, light for battery power goes on ...nothing. The game still wants me to press the battery switch for 5 seconds. Restarted two times, it's always the same problem.
I wish someone competent would do a train simulator or at least someone who is testing the game for 5 minutes before they release it.
I had no issues. Maybe the problem is sometimes in front oi the monitor.
I had no major issues with the first (and second) scenario there.
You might want to try to keep the button pressed a bit longer to see if the objective changes.
Pretty sure it was just me, too silly to press the left mouse button.
