Upgrade or new purchase
So will this be a free upgrade if we have Train Sim World 2020 or a new purchase?

What will the price be?

Very happy to see London Underground, Thanks.

It says "add it now to your wishlist" so sounds like no free upgrade. If it's not heavily discounted they are shooting themselves in the foot. Especially as TSW 2020 still hasn't got a lot of features that were promised.

100% new purchase. Its basically confirmed in the FAQ. https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/about-trainsimworld#faq-0

The price I think will be of 30€ like TSW. Hope in a discount for who already has TSW2020.

If it's that, then it's the same price as a one route, but you get two news ones (the German ICE route and the London Underground line) plus your old add-ons you bought for TSW. Plus new features. Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me...

Yes it is a new purchase, but you will get all routes you already own for TSW2020 for free. Also it seems to be the biggest over-the-year upgrade, from what I remember, over-the-year upgrades for TSxxxx or TSW 2019 > 2020 didn't bring much things. Also upgrade of Unreal Engine is confirmed.

A discount for those who already own TSW2020 would be more than reasonable in my opinion.

Year for around 30 it is a good deal considering you do get new routes and trains, i'm really looking forward to London Underground

You pay for it all over again.

If it's around the same price as the current game it would be worth it as the 2 routs included would run more if bought separately. Plus any improvements the upgraded game engine brings.

Yeah, so basically, I'm expected to pay a new game, full price to enjoy the features that were promised in the first one ?

Seriously... F-off Dovetail ! Never again am I gona buy something from you. The quality and improvement to the base game were so poor over the years, I don't expect anything revolutionnary happening to the first TSW now that the second iteration is coming up.

To everyone considering the buy: don't preorder... Keep your wallet shut until they release the game and check wether ot not they deliver on what is promised. If a feature is supposed to come "soon", don't bother, your not liekly to ever see it.

I will wait and see what happens with "The Evolution of Train Sim.....etc"
If you come along with another cosmetic update, full of bugs, pain and tears (and with full price of course), this will be the last cent you get from me! :-)

The bro said on the 3rd floor seems right, DTG doesn't want to upgrade the TSW 2020 any more, because of the engine is upgraded although I seriously doubt that there is any new enormous features in the pre-released game. I am afraid I have to consider of purchasing this game for a while later when it is launched on the Aug.6th. what's your opinion bro?

One good thing. We'll be able to use any DLC we bought for the original TSW in TSW2.

The old DLCs (maps and locos) work on TSW2 yet, we can't benefit from the engine's improvements on TSW 2020 ? It works one way but not the other ?

BS.

As stated by others, most developpers would have patched the original game with the newer engine and its improvements for free, while retaining all the new content on the newer platform (which makes sense, you still want to get fresh money to keep the company going)...
It would have been a nice move from DTG towards its player base, since a lot of us sunk a lot of money on a half-baked and incomplete product. But no. Not DTG.

I'll state this again, but friction and wheelslip, something that was promised and obviously necessary for a "next gen sim" has NEVER been delivered in TSW, and probably never will now.
Wheelslip was working in Train simulalor, but not on their newer, "next-gen simulation title"...
We basically had a paid alpha for over three to four years (alpha, because it is still not feature complete compared to what was promised or teased) and we f**kers threw money at them so they can keep shoving out incomplete and buggy DLCs over and over without adressing the core issues of their game and the missing features.

I didn't bother to re-DL and play TSW2020, but last time I checked (2 to 3 years post release), changing the keybinds was still not working. A feature as simple as keybinding WAS. NOT. WORKING. (at least on a french keyboard.)
That alone simply is appalling and if this doesn't lower your expectations when it comes to dovetail's engineering skills, I don't know what will...

They have good artists: the locos look good, and while still incredibly static and lifeless, they put a lot of work on the recreation of the maps and tracks... But aside from that, they've been pretty terrible across the board.
