Infinite ammo for most weapons with Void Idol + Refunder
"Void Idol" amulet provides the following effect:
- "Increases Reload Speed by 20%. Reloads only require 50% of magazine from reserves to fully reload."

"Refunder" mutator:
- Shots from this weapon have a 20% chance to return spent ammo to reserves.
- At level 10 it has a 35% chance and refunded ammo has a 50% chance to also be added to stowed weapon reserves.

With this combo you essentially have infinite ammo with any weapon that uses a couple of bullets per magazine or more. This has made the game soooooo much more fun for me and my partner as I basically never run out of ammo. Not only does this mean I have infinite ammo, but it allows them to pick up virtually all ammo boxes and they almost never run out of ammo either.

It's a tradeoff as other amulets/mutators are going to allow you to do a lot more DPS. But for me and the build I'm running I absolutely love it for myself and my partner and I know I'm not the only one so wanted to share this with you all if you didn't know. Check it out!

I'm running with Void Idol + Bandit for Bonesaw + Refunder for sidearm + Transference for huntress spear

Bandit:
- under level 10: On hit, grants a x% chance to return spent Ammo directly into the magazine of this weapon
- at level 10: On hit, grants a 30% chance to return spent Ammo directly into the magazine of this weapon.
When Ammo is returned to this weapon, it gains 10% increased Fire Rate for 3s. Duration can increase up to 10s.

Transference:
- under level 10: Melee Hits generate 5% Ammo Reserves for both Firearms. Cooldown 10s.
- at level 10: Melee Hits generate 5% Ammo Reserves for both Firearms. Cooldown 5s.
When a Firearm reserve is full, melee Strikes generate 25% additional Mod Power for that weapon.

Do you use the refunder on a high ammo long gun or handgun. My infinite ammo build is gunslinger prime perk on Bonesaw. Specifically using the Quickdraw skill.

Does void idol work on individual ammo loading like the Wrangler and Ford's gun?

I use Refunder for my sidearm => handgun

Void idol work on all guns. it uses 50% of ammo what you weapon clip need to fully refill your weapon clip. let's say ford gun has a 42 clip. w/o Void idol you need 42 reserve ammo to fill your clip. with Void idol it only need 21 ammo.

For my long gun I've been switching between Bulldog and Pulse Rifle. For my handguns I've been switching between Meridian, Silverback, and Enigma. With all of these guns my ammo seems endless with *just* the Void Idol. I use Refunder on my Long Gun and it virtually is unlimited.

I think the gun only matters in that single shot guns will not benefit from the Void Idol. They'd still benefit from Refunder though? I haven't really tested as I currently haven't found one I really liked.

I seldom run into ammo issues. Seems like a waste of those slots,

I don't know, but likely part of it is that my first and second playthroughs were on Nightmare/Apocalypse respectively. You need more ammo to kill everything. I've also only played co-op where ammo has to be shared with a partner. In those areas it can definitely be a real pain at times. There are some fights we had where we were begging for ammo.

All that said, it's definitely not a build for everyone, but I absolutely love it. I will 100% take doing slightly less DPS to have the amazing quality of life of never having to worry about ammo. You can also do super fun stuff like shoot your grenade launcher into rooms forever without ever worrying about ammo.

Cube Gun+Refunder literally is an ammo factory for both weapons. No need to actually use up an amulet slot as it creates ammo out of literally thin air.

It's good that people find these sorts of builds.
At the same time, it's good that you realize it's not OP because it's a huge DPS tradeoff.

I do have ammo issue but only because enemies (bosses) are such bullet sponge in apocalypse....
But I'll probably end up buying more ammo crates lol

Don't think it is 'broken' to begin with. There are mutators that straight up say 'this has no effect on this weapon' when equipped to Cube Gun. There are plenty of other ways to generate ammo as well.

I don't think it's broken, but it's maybe unintended as you're not actually using ammo.

Dunno. Either way, ammo boxes are not all that expensive regardless. Wasting an amulet slot for the sake of ammo just seems weird to me late game when I have like a million scrap saved up...
MrWitz Aug 14, 2023 @ 6:15am
Idk... Just seems like you're sacrificing SO much DPS for this. Amulets give SO much power, and to have to waste your 1 amulet on an ammo efficiency hurts. But then to have to waste your mutator as well? This doesn't sound fun to me at all.... But you do you.
Tymon Aug 14, 2023 @ 6:16am
Early game it could be helpful though, when ammo boxes DO feel expensive since you have a billion things you need to buy/upgrade.
