No it doesn't. That link is misinformation.

Man, you are just... almost there..
Epic and Steam can play together. Xbox Gamepass isn't allowed. Wonder what could have happened here.
You 100% absolutely can play crossplay between Steam and PC GamePass, it's just not obvious how to do it; I'm copying my own words from a separate post below.
*as long as everyone playing together has Epic linked to Game Pass/Steam (whichever each person is playing on), and has both apps open (Epic & either Steam/GamePass) while doing crossplay, you can definitely play together. Shift+F3 should bring up the Epic overlay, as long as other open programs aren't using the function already.*
What part is misinformation? I myself (GamePass subscriber) have played hours and hours on several different characters with 4 different Steam friends in several different sessions. As long as all players have an Epic account which is linked to the platform they have Remnant 2 on (Steam/GamePass), and have both apps open while playing, it should work. Also, players need to be added and invited through the Epic overlay (Shift+F3). I will say, it's not perfect and sometimes it seems like the Invite/Join buttons won't show up on a friends profile, but it definitely works.
Any other possible work around?
steam friend has linked steam, egs and xbox account
same for myself.
I've got it on gamepass, he has it on steam. Cant inv/join
His EGS overlay works mine does not
Ive uninstalled both the EGS/ Remnant 2 and nothing same for him. Both unlinked/linked all account and nothing,
Tried running the 64bit version as admin nothing so not sure what is going on or why we cant join each other
I know its quite vague but that might be some lead and get a final more straight answer.
I wonder if this is why I get the message "There is a known issue with RivaTuner (included with MSI Afterburner) and Remnant 2." when I boot up the game. If you have RivaTuner running it conflicts with the Epic overlay? Maybe.
It doesn't affect me through the PC Xbox App playing with the friends on Xbox. We all own the game through the Xbox store, so we're not using game pass. I cannot vouch for any PC Xbox App to Epic/Steam cross compatibility though.
Just an FYI that this (allegedly) isn't fully supported by the devs. Specifically using linked Epic accounts to connect Steam and GamePass players.
It DOES work on and off. I've connected to a couple sessions with one group of friends but now I just get Network Connection Failed errors constantly with them, and new friends who are playing on Steam. GamePass to GamePass works a-okay. Had a friend who had both the GamePass and Steam versions installed (forgot to clean up) and GamePass worked flawlessly while the Steam client couldn't connect either way.
