Cannot see friends list ingame! Unable to play with friends!

So me and my friend are trying to play together.

My friend cannot see any of her friends in the friends list ingame.

When she starts up the game, I can see it on my Steam friends list, but I cannot join her.

I can send her an invite send her an invite. If she accepts when she is ingame, she gets an error message saying the game is already running. If she is not running the game, and accepts the invite, the game starts up, but she does not join my game.

Her Steam overlay does not work. We checked that it is both globally enabled, and enabled for Remnant II. Also confirmed we used right key bindings for overlay. It works for other games, but not Remnant II. We checked for memory issues, as I read that this can sometimes be a problem, but I could not find anything looking like memory issues.

We also tried linking the game to an Epic account, but with the same problems. No friends list ingame or epic overlay.

Her PC has the right driver according to Nvidia site, and we performed a clean install of the driver.
Her gaming setup:
Lenovo Legion y720 (laptop)
CPU: i7-7700HQ
RAM: 16gb DDR4
GPU: 2gb GTX 1060

My thoughts are that somehow Remnant II cannot communicate with Steam/Epic friends list and overlay.

If anyone has any idea how to get this to work, please do tell =)

it's confirmed to work, however I got it on epic and have the same issue where no friends list will populate.

For cross playing, you actually have to use the epic overlay to join or invite people. The steam overlay/in game friends list will not work. Which is really annoying...

Yeah I'm used to steam having better multiplayer accessibility options than Epic. Quite a mind**** to be REGRETTING buying a product on steam.

I hope they at least ANNOUNCE they'll be adding lobby lists EVENTUALLY. Or text chat in game. Messaging. Profiles. Anything. I can't even SEE if someone is on steam from in game.

Are you talking about adding people or joining or inviting? Last time I played with someone on epic I believe I had an error message once but it worked after.
