Multiclassing worth it?
Or is it better to stick with one class

almost required since you can use both passives and extra skill.

From what I'd read I didn't see any negatives to equipping a second archetype. You don't get the prime perk of the second class, so you may need to swap them around to get the best benefit but it's basically just more skills and no drawback, I think?

In short, yes, have a secondary archetype active.

The long of it:
Why would you not use a second archetype? You get no downsides for having a second archetype subbed with your primary. The only thing that isn't active on the second archetype is its prime perk: all archetypes require the class to be primary to be active.

Once you reach level 10 in an archetype, you unlock its trait to use on any other class.

Aside from that, you gain access to all of the secondary archetype's perks(excluding prime perk), skills, and trait.

the only ever time you want to use a single class is for leveling since then EXP isnt split.

Depends on what you mean by "multiclassing". Do you mean swapping archetypes occasionally, or do you mean running two archetypes at the same time? If the latter, then yes absolutely. Running two archetypes is always better. You level both at the same time and you get all benefits from both of them.

There is no negative besides xp split, and you don't get the prime perk of the 2ndary archetype.

Equip a 2nd.

having a 2nd like medic or handler is a big boon in solo player

No EXP is shared for both. I started medic and Alchemist together and both were leveling in sync.

with XP Split both will lvl in sync. What XP Split is, is that if you have 1class and that gets 100 EXP. If you have XP Split and 2 classes then both will get half each of those 100 XP instead of both getting 100 each.

Yes this game does indeed have XP Split when multiclassing. Contrary to popular belief this game does split the experience you get to each archetype you have equipped. The game does not create XP from thin air to give to one archetype. It simply splits the XP you do get to both of them.

Basically XP sharing and XP Split is the same thing. What you are thinking about as XP Split is XP Independence. Which means you have to use something from that class in order for that class to gain XP. But that is a completely different thing than XP Split.

I think it's required ( AFAIK, there's no use in not having a second archetype ).

About exp split: if one of the two classes is level 10, the other one gets full exp. So it's kinda optimal in a way to have a carry class leveling another class up.

I read somewhere not equipping a second class gives you 10 more trait points but I haven't tried it. The passive Perks, trait and active skill from the second class make it very strong to drop.
