When 1.4.4?
200 days have passed since the update, why is 1.4.4 still not ready?
1.4.3 and 1.4.4 dont have big differences. Its not the update from 1.3 to 1.4
Why soooooooooooo long

Hey there!

This is an ancient thread so I'm going to lock it and mark this as the answer after I post this :)

From my observations, the reason that 1.4.4 has been taking a drastically long time can be boiled down to a few reasons:

- 1.4.4 changed more than I believe people realize, along with the introduction of a liquid like Shimmer.

- 1.4.4 tML does not just include 1.4.4's content and changes, but also includes MANY changes that could break many, if not all mods on the browser. Not to mention these changes have been drastic enough that they have taken an immense amount of time to get to a stable state.

- Something I think people forget is that tML is a mostly volunteer-led project made up of community members much like yourselves. Not everyone has time to be working on everything, and none of the volunteers have ever been paid besides the team themselves (which really, shouldn't matter anyway). That being said, any person who would like to volunteer to expedite the process is more than welcome to do so!

If you need any more information, do not hesitate to join the tModLoader discord server for more information: https://discord.gg/tmodloader

Also I'd like to add, y'all should really consider being civil next time. There's no reason to be rude to anyone over our funny modloader for a 2D pixel sandbox game.

See you space cowboy...

Ikr? There are more and more mods everyday which says "update need".
Keep patience and just wait, versions from 1.4.3 to 1.4.4 it has lots of changes. But anyway, devs already told the beta of 1.4.4 is running, which that means is close but not hyper close to get it.

Then why modders use version which is still on testing? Are they dumb?

You realise that on its own, 1.4.4 took nearly a year to finish, and they have to add all of the features plus allowing support for modders to develop mods for it, on top of that they need to give modders enough time to make enough mods for 1.4.4 for the community to enjoy it.

That's really weird logic but... ok. Modder who release his work sooner than the core app is finished is dumb. Try to change my mind if you dare.

Arguing with someone who has 0 actual experience in programming is pointless. If you don't get it you don't get it.

Regular bugs that'd impact the user experience of full playthroughs don't really effect mod devs who might only see a tiny fraction of content while porting/developing their mods, & can probably easily ignore bugs they find

Meanwhile, they get to proactively adapt their code & get their mod out faster, & tML gets a bunch of experienced coders doing piecemeal playtests & giving more competent assessments on the bugs they find.

Dude logic applies into every aspect of your life, whether you have skill in it or not. But according of your logic i cannot even touch aspirin pills, even during sickness which it treats, cuz i am no doctor. If you have no argument, then don't comment in here.

No? What i just told was doctor created a new pill and offered it to the world, yet no pharmacy has it so noone can use it. That is exactly the logic behind mods in the workshop. You cannot download them because they are made for new version of tModLoader, which is not even up. Do you understand now? Geez, looks like every gamer in here is also a programmer. Pfff XD

At least 3 people have already told you this is a bad take, and you doubled down, then tripled down.

I'll be the 4th one: Your analogy is deeply flawed, the pill is an end product, tModLoader is not. It's a platform for creating and using mods. And anyone can download it from Github as-is, there is no doctor or factory gatekeeping "the pill".

In the latest State of the Game the tModLoader section said that it's modder-ready, not player-ready. So if modders want to invest time, they can.

Some (most?) will not. A Thorium developer straight up told me so when asked whether they will begin the porting soon or not.

To answer your pill comparison, either the doctor does not work on their pill & pill users will have to wait on them long after it receives FDA approval, or they can be proactive & have their pill ready to go for consumer use by the time FDA approves it
You cannot download them because they are made for new version of tModLoader, which is not even up.
This isn't true.
