Just putting my thoughts here about Calamity + Fargo Souls DLC
I played both mods long ago separately, then have a hiatus before coming back again recently with compatibility mod. I finished all of the progression last night in the Eternity + Revengeance difficulty. There are some thoughts that I want to convey somewhat because there's no comment spot in their workshop.

  1. I think it'd be nice to have a separated Eternity and Revengeance, somewhat in the middle, or before. For some reason, when turning this mode, the difficulty automatically switch to masochist mode. And I actually prefer to have Calamity vanilla bosses than Eternity because they're in a way more balanced with the progression compared to Eternity.

  2. Talking about balanced progression, I really, really think that, Mutant himself should've been more of a superboss after Calamity's endgame instead of being the final endgame boss himself. Because Calamitas and Exo-Bots when compared to Mutant himself looks very tame: less HP, less projectiles, less demanding desperate move. And the fact that one have to fight Mutant just to get the endgame progression thanks to its eternal energy is.... not entertaining.
"But Calamity also have similar boss too like Hekate and Cirrus." true, but they're both are alternative bosses and exclusive to Get fixed boi seed, which is not what I'm at. You see, they're considered as "Hidden boss" not "Progression boss". I think you can still beat the game with normal route in that seed as it's not mandatory.

  3. I think the final thoughts here is how the endgame weapon ended up being "nerfed" by Fargo so bad. Like, seriously? After all of those difficulties with materials that locked behind mutant to make the endgame resource, the weapons then got super nerfed? I'm talking about 40-60% damage reduction here. And it's not even written in the Fargo wiki or the workshop page. And if I haven't mentioned it, Rod of Discord/Harmony cost lives per use? That sounds like elitist tryhard people trying to not let people have fun. If it's in Get fixed boi seed, sure, go ahead. But no, I'm not in Get fixed boi seed. Now that I'm talking about it, the mutant boss too disables some neat abilities from their own accessories such as golden turtle buff (negates all damage for certain time) and time frozen which used to be usable but can be countered back with mutant doing the same. That sounds very cheap move and easily ruining people ways to "outsmart" the boss.

In the end, while these combination mod offers great challenges, I think next time I'd rather have something like Star Above to play with Calamity. Again, these are my own thoughts and I think I've aged to the point that things like Guy Gaiden-like difficulty is not my thing anymore. Or at least, making a challenging boss but not overly punishing with too many drawbacks.

P.S. I'm not trying infernum since the Fargo DLC is written not compatible with that, and definitely will be different since it's more of directly to Calamity additional difficulty instead of cross-expansion difficulty.
