Everything got reset

I took a 1 month break from games just to focus on my life for a bit in January, in February I come back and everything I had on my character and world got reset to when I had started. I tried fixing the files with tutorials I had found but nothing seemed to fix it. So I decided to wait on an update hoping that would fix what was going on, which brings me to today. Nothing is fixed and my character still is reset. I even tried going to different patches of the game and still nothing had fixed. Please help me if you can.

POSSIBLE FIX - Yeah, the same thing just happened to me where I went on vacation over the weekend and I come back to my tModloader needing an update. Of course I updated it, but after loading the game a pop-up happened saying all mods I had installed were new mods. What I did was enable all of the ones I had from before. When I tried to get to my character though, it was one that I was not using for my recent play through, same with the world. I tried clicking on migrating players and the one character I was using recently said it was for a newer version of tModlaoder 1.4. It ended up working and I got my character back and the same with my recent world. Everything is back to normal now. Hope this helps!
