1.4, Increase CPU/RAM use
Title says all, game runs at "60fps" chopping up like its 12fps and not even using 10% of cpu and RAM. Ryzen7 2700x cpu and 16GB of ram
Anyone knows how to improve this?

Terraria with mods uses video memory, not CPU and RAM. I have with calamity mod, the CPU and video card is not loaded above 20%, but the video memory is used all, all 6 gigabytes of 6.

Previously, I had a 4 gigabyte video card and I also noticed such lags, but after updating the video card lag was not at all. Maybe that's the problem, at least in my opinion.

Make sure you are using the x64 bit version of tmod not the 32. 32 bit has a hard cap of 4gigs ram which means your large mods will not run very well. Resource packs to improve textures will also affect performance.

Hey there!

Most times, due to Terraria’s general lack of optimization and constraints, it’s most likely the game is lagging itself and has nothing to do with hardware.

Add mods on top of that and it gets 10x worse, unfortunately. There isn’t a method to necessarily reduce this either (such as a parallel to Minecraft’s Optifine).

Best advice? Reduce your mod count or bear with it, I’m afraid.

See you space cowboy…

How do I make sure its on 64 bit as there is no visible toggle or atleast one that i can see?
