tModLoader won't let me join my friend's worlds

So I can join just fine if I've downloaded the game for the first time. I then leave the world for a day and he shuts it down to do other things. We come back to play again and he brings up the world again.

The problem starts here. For whatever reason, tModLoader won't let me join his world by IP or steam. If I try steam the option simply doens't exist. If I try IP the game just stops loading at a certain point and gets stuck in the load menu.

The only way I've found to fix this is to uninstall and reinstall tModLoader. We're only using 4 mods and it isn't tied to the mods as we've unloaded all the mods while it was working to test it. The next day it did the same crap.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Restart the game (sometimes steam thinks you are in another game) if this does not work then i have nothing else for you

Yeah... that was the first thing we tried. Mods off, then mods on 1 at a time.

Might be able to do this, but the country I am in doesn't have as good of an infrastructure compared to where he is and the server would likely have more issues with latency.

Same here, i can join only if they invite me

Use the server utility that comes with TModLoader. IP and joining through Steam is unreliable. The utility is in the TModLoader directory. It can also tell your friend WHY you can't join if it doesn't work.

what i found to work is to not open tloader but to click your friends name on steam and click join after they get in the world. i have found this to be more reliable to getting in with friends
