when i start tmod my anti virus says its infected with a bunch of things. im not sure if this is true or not but im getting worried that this might secretly be a virus!

now when i try to re download it after trying to fix it, its not downloading and the download keeps pausing.

It's a false positive, you won't get viruses from steam anytime soon. Also read up on viruses, please.

i have tried to restart and create an exception it didin't work, and when i turned off my antivirus the download still paused itself.

It might be because tModLoader is dependent on Terraria, it's not a virus, it simply let's you get mods on the 1.3.5.3 version of Terraria.

i have terraria, it still wont work. am i am on 1.3.5.3. i'll have to remove tmod loader because it wont work.

You can still install the mod manually like before you don't need to use the steam version.
