I can't install tModLoader, HELP! What do I do? [Updated 2024]

To install tModLoader on Steam, you need to own Terraria on Steam. Simply browse for tModLoader on Steam and install it. The tModLoader installation will exist alongside the vanilla installation, allowing you to play both vanilla and modded without the hassle of reinstalling vanilla.

Common causes of issues:

1) Your Antivirus is blocking TML. Try making an exception for TML in your Antivirus.
2) If you are using OneDrive, you have to try and make an exception for your documents or the my games/terraria folder.
3) You don't own Terraria on Steam
4) You are missing .dll files
5) Your installation is corrupt

Okay, I am steam sharing the game, whenever I try to download TML, it restarts the steam page, and nothing happens.

go to Documents > My Games > Terraria > ModLoader > Mods, you can delete the mods' files from there, and I think that I read somewhere that pressing the left shift key before the game loads your mods will keep it from loading your mods, if that's the issue. I might be wrong about which key it was.

Is the Tmod 1.4 support not out yet? It keeps taking me back to 1.3 when I launch in steam and I can't seem to find a work around.

Additionally, for those having an instant refresh and no launch problem, what solved this for me was disabling cloud sync for tmodloader in manage settings.
