What are your recommended Mod Combinations?
Hi all!

Me and my friends are about to return to Terraria after a long time.
To make it feel as a complete new game, I'd like to add mods.

There are a lot of mods and I don't want to overrun the game with too many mods.
So which combinations are you using?

(Is it best to run just 1 overhaul mod? Or is it only possible to run 1 overhaul mod?)

I'd love to hear your opinions!

Thorium is a great basis for modpacks. Balanced, fits the game style, lots of content.
Dont use Calamity with other mods, it completely breaks the balance of the game with overpowered weapons and is straight up incompatible with some.
Spirit and Tremor are dead and unfinished, dont use them.
Overhaul is best used alone.
Haven't used Ancients and Elements yet, but seems like worse calamity.
QWERTY is similar to thorium, it has its issues but is good. Very unique items and bosses.
Mod of Redemption is a cool tech style mod with a huge underground dungeon.

Optimally you take 1-3 big content mods that add alot of Biomes, Items and Classes (see above) and then pad out the game with smaller mods.
You can certainly use several big mods but it is only recommended to run a couple at a time because of compatibility issues.

here is a list of smaller mods that i recommend:

Lithos Armory: adds various weapons, mostly ranged.
WeaponOut: melee focused mod that adds whips, fist weapons aswell as a feature to see what weapon your character is holding similar to overhaul.
Gensokyo: A mod that adds various items and bosses from the Touhou series. Very well-made and polished, definitive recommendation.
Split: a magic focused-mod with some fun weapons and a couple bosses.
Just Another Alchemist NPC: Alchemist NPC but better.
Luiafk: basically lets you craft infinite versions of items, can be OP.

Must-have QoL:
Recipe Browser: Lets you see what you can craft with an item.
Boss Checklist: Adds a menu that shows all the bosses and how to spawn them.
Magic Storage: AE2 Terminal but Terraria. Lets you make boxes that store all your items and crafting stations.
Auto Trash: Adds a list where you can put items that will get automatically deleted when you pick them up.
Which Mod is This From?: Shows what mod an item is from in the tooltip.
Census: adds a list that shows all the available Town NPCs and their spawning conditions.

Thank you Ray :cozycrashfish:
Wow thanks, Ray! This helps me alot. I'm gonna dive deeper into the mods to a selection and I'll post my choices here. I'd love to receive your feedback after!

I really liked the overhaul game mechanics, but I'm curious about Thorium..!
Would it be wise to use Thorium and Overhaul together?
Thanks I'll check these out. Running a Heavy mod with some side mods and some QoL mods its fun so far.(maybe when I beat my current set i'll play some Thorium.)

No known issues between Thorium and Overhaul, both mods should work completely fine with each other.
