Expert < Master ~ Expert Revengeance < Master Revengeance < Expert Death < Master Death
Where Master mode only adds statbloat, Death and Revengeance both heavily change how enemies and especially bosses behave leading to an overall greater, but far more fun challenge. Revengeance and Death also enable normally Mastermode exclusive drops, so no worries about missing out on those pets, mounts and decorative relics.
Personally i'd advise going with Expert Revengeance as thats the intended setting and overall feels best. Early game is likely to be very difficult, but unlike the world setting you can change calamities difficulty modes mid run (just not while a boss/event is alive) to ease the start if you like.
Note that Post-Moonlord content generally is highly challenging no matter the setting.
