Calamity Abyss Constant Bleed even with Abyssal Diving Gear

The title says it all, but I suppose I can explain a bit more. So I have the abyssal diving gear and the Abyssal Amulets both on in an equipment slot. Supposedly the diving gear should 'remove the bleed effect caused by the abyss'. It doesn't. Whenever I step a single foot in the abyss background I get constant ticking damage.

Can anybody help me here? I have no clue how to get scoria with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happening...
