How to prevent updates breaking mods compatibility [temp solution]
1. Go to tmodloader github https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases
2. Pick which version you need or just pick version which was not most recent, for example: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases/tag/v2022.05.103.34 (10 days ago)
3. Download tModLoader.zip
4. Go to steam library -> tmodloader -> manage -> browse local files https://i.imgur.com/nd7YNF2.png
5. Open tmodloader.zip and overwrite all files
6. Launch & play (might need to reenable mods manually) and if it updates and breaks mods next time, repeat from step 1

PS. I'm not a dev or modder or anything, just my workaround

Thank you.
Now I don't have to wait for the hourly byte sized tMod updates to end.
I feel bad for the mod creators.
it dindn't work for me
This wont work because some mods get updated for the new version of TmodLoader. The whole auto update system is laughable.

It works, although I don't have many mods ~15, but worked for me even with updated mods. Mods usually not break backwards comparability on minor versions

The fact that we even have to do this is absolutely ridiculous. We should just be able to pick the previous version under "betas" instead of having to do this manual workaround.

Is there a reason they can't push the auto updates to an unstable/beta version so the general user doesn't have to do this every month? I can't fathom why something that guaranteed breaks your mods every month without even asking if you want to update it is the default download

and they said i could have just have a pleasant experience without worrying about tmodloader updates

would this fix my worries of my tmodloader not working???

Why not just.. Not release 10KB updates every 4 hours, instead of making people do weird ♥♥♥♥?
How do you overwrite the files

This system seems not user friendly at all. Why do mods have to sign to specific versions and can't work with future versions on a platform that is frequently updating.

I thought Tmod loader was going to STABLE versions of 1.4, and yet we still get 3 updates a day which constantly break mods. Honestly 1.4 just isn't worth playing and I soooo feel bad for mod authors who have to go through all of these hoops just to not hear the community whine. Or rather to hear less of the community wine and blame them. How about a beta we can choose that only gets updated like once or twice a month so authors have more of a choice when and where they focus their time?

"stable" 1.4 version my ass, there are llike 3 updates a day and all they do is move two pixels to the left on a vanilla sprite and it breaks every mod
