Shield of Cthulhu custom keybinding

Is there a way to bind Shield of Cthulhu dash to a single key instead of a double tap? I give up on learning how to use it after 450 hours, I just can't. Maybe there is a mod or something, please help me.

is it really that hard to double tap a or d? i actually kinda like it that way, it's fun mashing the buttons

This is rediculously uncomfortable for me, I wear this shield every run and try to actively use it every single time, but it just doesn't work for me. It's not that hard to give me an alternative I think, but for some reason there seems to be none so far

I have the problem that in version 1.4.3 of tmodloader it does not let me use the shield (the dash)
