with that logic i could own a game simply by buying a $1 DLC item for it. doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?
also, the game is on sale right now, just gift him that
"Community-Made Mod

My friend (not me) was gifted Terraria (someone else purchased the game and gave it to him), and he now owns the game in his steam library.
When he tries to install tmodloader, steam says he must first own the game (which he does, it was gifted to him (someone else purchased it and gave it to him)).
No answers have been given here, only people who don't seem to be able to read 3 sentences.
I thank you for managing to read through the painful 3 sentences explaining my friend's problem. I have told him to try and send a support ticket to steam, and if that doesn't work I will go ahead with the manual installation. The reason I wanted to avoid this was because I was not use if it would overwrite his Terraria 1.4 files.
