How to install mods
I see all of these wonderful mods that are available, such as TTE, Wide Horizons, and Operation Magazine, however the instructions for installing them are often quite vague. Personally, I am not very gifted with computers so I find the process of putting these in the override file to be quite confusing. I put the mod file in the over ride folder, and yet when I play my game it is still vanilla. Therefore, I am reaching out for help. I am sure I am merely doing some minor thing wrong, and may just be one click away from success, however I still need help to figure it out. Thanks!

I have had some trouble loading MODS to play the Pacific Campaign. I know that TTE Mod needs to be first loaded into the Mod program, but after that I have had no real instruction as to the order of the other mods needed. The one and only attempt that to a point loaded the PACIFIC CAMPAIGN there were issues with the load. Like no Mini Map Click to see the enemy ships which left my eyeballs the only method for targeting specific ships.
So I reloaded all the most recent MODS again and loaded them in the order the PACIFIC Campaign said to load them. What I got was the East Indies campaign.
I want to play the Pacific Campaign and then try the East Indies, but for whatever reason the sequence of the mods after TTE are unclear. Any Help would be great.

For the Pacific Campaign the JSGME load order is as follows;
1. East Indies Campaign v1.5.2
2. TTE Main Mod 6.1.1 [WOTS 1.08g7]
3. Base OM Mod
4. OM All Ships In Campaign (this is optional, but if you want all the ships/planes)
5. Optional TTE sub mods (only choose one of each letter - this is what I am using at moment; (B) TTE 24 Plane Squadron (E) TTE No Payload Fighter_Scout)
6. Pacific Campaign
7. Simplified Realism for Pacific Campaign (this is optional)

For the ABDACOM Campaign, all you need is East Indies Campaign v1.5.2 as it is a stand alone mod unlike the the Pacific Campaign mod which requires the other mods.

Gogofly42, please read the mod description properly. You have literally all you need there. Just take five minutes to read or use ctrl+f to search by key words if you feel like five minutes is too much and you will still find what you need.

There have been a number of mod updates over the last few days - thanks Modders! For those of you who are into the Pacific Campaign mod, I have have just set myself up for a real naval brawl taking advantage of the updated mods. Here is the JSGME load order for my next campaign;
1. East Indies Campaign v1.5
2. East Indies Campaign v1.5.1
3. TTE Main Mod 6.1.1 [WOTS 1.08g7]
4. Base OM Mod
5. OM All Ships In Campaign (optional)
6. Base Mod-Expanded Arsenal
7.Optional Installations-Reworked Tougher AI (optional)
8. (B) TTE 24 Plane Squadron (optional)
9. (D) Bonus Th0ma5 map on table with paper fold marks (optional)
10. (E) TTE No Payload Fighter_Scouts (optional)
11. (F) TTE Late War Payloads (optional)
12. (K) MNE Mod (TTE+OM) (optional)
13. Pacific Campaign
14. Simplified Realism for Pacific Campaign (optional)
15. MNE Mod (PC) (optional)
I will be playing on the Allies (USN/RAN/RN/NEDN/FN) side against the IJN. With the Expanded Arsenal mod, the IJN have a lot more ships available and if the AI is improved, I expect to have lots of battles (Encounters). I will also have more ships available, especially my beloved Baltimore CA class!

I have done a similar load order (obviously, the East Indies version is now 1.5.2). I find having the Merchant Ship mod gives a greater variety of MS ships to use. I really enjoy the Expanded Arsenal mod. I have found in my latest WitP Campaign, that having this mod means that there are plenty of enemy (IJN in this case) ships available to sink. In particular, the CVs, BBs & CAs.

Great to hear! - That Expanded Arsenal mod makes the game really interesting.

I still see players having trouble downloading the mods. while the instructions in each of the various mods is clear, please refer to this thread for further information.

If I knew how, I would have this thread pinned.

Judging by the frequency and persistence of problems with loading mods......it's probably a fair guess that many would be players become frustrated and simply lose interest after a little while. Games with mods available directly through Steam have the obvious advantage of convenience, which can only result in more traffic and greater longevity.

This post only applies to those using JSGME for installing the Pacific Campaign mod. I have updated my Pacific Campaign mod to include the new sub mod, Competent Airplanes. Here is the JSGME load order;
1 - East Indies Campaign v1.5.2 (the old ABDACOM mod)
2 - TTE Main Mod v6.1.1
3- Base OM Mod v1.5.10
4- OM All Ships in Campaign (optional)
5- Base Mod Expanded Arsenal v2.7 (optional)
6- TTE 24 Plane Squadron (B) (optional)
7- TTE No Payload Fighters/Scouts (E) (optional)
8- TTE Late War Payloads (F) (optional)
9- MNE TTE + OM (L) (optional)
10- Pacific Campaign Mod v2.2.1 (WotS v1.08g7h2)
11- Simplified Realism for Pacific Campaign (optional)
12- MNE Mod (PC) (optional)
13- Competent Airplanes (optional)
I did not have any problems installing the Competent Airplanes mod - I just added it to the existing setup. I went into my current WitP campaign and the new mod was active. That was good. I was expecting to restart my campaign. I have my Pacific Campaign mod really humming now - I have fixed the problems with the Iwo Jima & Okinawa airfields, which caused me problems in my earlier campaigns. I do recommend the Competent Airplanes mod - finally, the game has proper aerial warfare (almost)!

The new mod called "All In One Mod Pack" makes things simple. Just load this mod and have available all 6x campaigns from the Campaign menu. No need to worry about load order for JSGME.

I found this thread that was created last year - it has the appropriate title! A lot has happened over the year and we now have more mods available. People are still having problems installing mods and there are multiple threads created all over the place asking for help. I will attempt to put in instructions that worked for me. First of all, I just want to say that I am not overstepping the instructions given by the Modders. They know what they are doing and they put the installation instructions in the pinned topic for each of the mods (which are currently, Tokyo Express, Operation Magazine, ABDACOM Defensive & the Pacific Campaign). I also want to acknowledge that players have old & new computers/devices that can affect the installation process as well as different levels of computer literacy skills. Now, lets get on with it;

So, you have been playing the Vanilla and/or Beta versions of the game and have decided that you want to play the modded versions. First question you need to ask yourself - am I computer literate? If not, find someone who is to help you. The next question is do you have a software programme that can unpack (extract) the Zip files that you get from download links? (I had to get 7-Zip & 9 Zip for my computer. There are other software like Winrar available too) The first thing you need to do is the run the verify the integrity of the game files in your Steam Library. You will see War On The Sea game in your library. Right click on the game, select Properties from the menu, select Local Files & then click on Verify integrity of game files. This is important to do, especially if you are like me and have done a lot of customisations to the base game files. If you don't do this process, you will run into problems installing the mods. Next download the mods from the links provided by the Modders. These Zip files will go into your downloads folder on your computer. It pays to to unpack the files in this folder and then move/copy the unpacked files to your Steam folder. (For most people, it will be in your Windows C drive under the Program Files(x86) folder) The file path will be: Steam/steamapps/common/War on the Sea
You will need a programme called JSGME (it comes with the TTE mod download). Activate it and let it set up a folder called MODS. (There is a good YouTube video from Its Paat, which shows you the process. He did this video for the South Pacific campaign in August 2022 - some things have changed since then, but it still gives a good overview) The next step is to place the modded files into the MODS folder. When you activate JSGME again, you should see all the files in the left hand panel of JSGME. Now for the important part - there is a specific load order for the mods when using JSGME. Here is the load order and names of the files that I did today (24th Nov). These files will appear in the right hand panel of JSGME;

1. East Indies Campaign v1.4
2. TTE Main Mod 6.1.1 [WOTS 1.08g7]
3. Base OM Mod
4. OM All Ships in Campaign
5. any optional TTE sub mods (if you want them or not)
6. Pacific Campaign
7. Simplified Realism for Pacific Campaign (optional)

JSGME will activate these files by creating an override folder. You can see this folder by following the folder path of: WarOnTheSea_Data/Streaming Assets
The folder, override, simply does that by overriding the default folder (where the base game is). Therefore, once you go back to start your WOTS game, you should see the new Pacific campaign main menu screen and hopefully you can play the game! (there are the 5x campaigns to choose from)

I have had no problems - all the game functions work as intended.
Now, if you do have problems - READ the modder's instructions in the pinned threads. Also, there is the Discord thread to go to for further help.

To finish off - when the next update(s) for the standard game or any of the mods comes out, you will need to clean out your MODS folder and delete the override folder. Then reload your MODS folder with the updated versions. (sorry, there is no short cut to this process - I already tried!)
I've done all this and it just doesn't work....when it comes to loading, there's nothing, it just stays loading...

Hi, I am trying to install the WOTS Pacific Campaign MOD. My version of the game is 1.08g7h2
I have downloaded the TTE Main Mod, Base OM Mod and Pacific Campaign files. I have moved the folders to the created MODS file.
When I load the game, I get the campaign map and when I start with the American or Japanese campaign the game freezes and doesn't load.
I have tried the installation with JSGME following the following installation order:
1st TTE Main Mod
2nd OM Base
3RD PC
It doesn't work either.
Can you help me to do the installation?
Thank you very much.

This thread is extremely outdated. The Pacific Campaign is no longer installed using JGSME, as is detailed in the mod thread.
Hi all,
Just got back into playing the game just getting into practice for when Task force Admiral comes out (I know totally different upcoming game) will still play War on the Sea though. Just a few questions please
1. If I got all of the mods do they clash with one another
2. Can you still play with just the ‘Base Game I.e no mods if so is there an option for that?

3 is there instructions on how to remove the mods from the game files without messing with the base game files out?

Kind Regards

Dave

Welcome back to the game! To answer your questions, here is what I know;
Q.1 This is a yes & no answer. The Indian Ocean mod requires the East Indies mod to run. However, the East Indies mod is a standalone mod so, it won't work with other mods. The Pacific Campaign mod has not been updated to the latest version of the game and to play it, you have to revert back to the older version of the game and that makes it a standalone mod. You can download all the mods but, just be aware that you will need to install & uninstall to play them.
Q.2 Yes - you can still play the base (vanilla) game. Some of the mods have it as a menu option (though I think it is based on the TTE mod version). The mod that I am using (which is no longer available) allows me to play the old versions of TTE, East Indies & Pacific Campaigns without having to do the installs/uninstalls. To strictly play the vanilla, uninstall the mods as per the instructions and delete the override folder.
Q.3 Yes - all the mods have instructions on how to install and uninstall. If I decided to go back to the vanilla game, I would (1) deactivate the mod using JSGME (2) manually delete the override folder. (3) run the Steam file integrity check to ensure all the game files are correct.
It has been awhile since i last did all this. I hope I have not missed anything out but, I'm sure there will be players that have done this exercise recently.
