Leave that name to Monster Hunter games. They're "monsters" only until they become your pokemon, then it's only cute to call them monsties. I totally love that name, ever heard of "affectionate diminutive"?
In-Universe Riders are a separate clan/group than Hunters so they added the distinction.
I also think I remember that in Monster Hunter Stories 1 Naviroo or someone else told that they're called Monsties because they're your besties, i.e., best buddies.
The topic just seems so out there you know? Personally I agree with you but still...
Yeah its pretty much like that. Were its created with kids in mind but adults play the hell out of it. If thats not your cup of tea then I doubt you'd like this game.
