Looks like a copy paste of their previous work, Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
While i enjoyed Nightwar, it was more a one and done sort of thing for me. This just looks like an outright copy paste of it, from the combat to the graphics. Can they really pull this off when it looks so unorignal? What are they doing differently this time around to improve upon Nightwar and to make it its own thing?

"So you don't move around on little nodes, you're actually in the world exploring the environments, the characters are in the environments, all the NPCs you interact with. So it's a much more immersive experience, and that was important for us. We didn't feel like for League of Legends with as rich as and huge as the world is, that players would be content just walking around on a map. So all the exploration is really fleshed out."

that's nothing new. it just mean that they took out all the dungeon maps and they make the whole world explorable like the dungeons. it's a whole big explorable dungeon. apart from the features mentioned in the ruined king official website they all exact identical of battlechaser.

bounty board - raha hunts

fishing - nuff said

bestiary - same as in battlechaser

side quests - except as in random dungeon now. this is much appreciated? hated that some items/enemies being locked in random dungeons.

battle arena - exact same

lore - same lore you find in dungeons

yasuo = garrison
ms. fortune = even the double pistol similar to monika
illaoi = looks like breto to me
braum = gully

of course they possibly mix and match other abilities across the heroes.

the two thing new i can read are cooking, runes and ability upgrades. cooking would be similar to crafting?. just mix different ingredients and cook your own food.

as for runes and ability upgrades maybe it's like a secondary role so you can pick whoever that you like and not tied to so much on which combo that you need.

in battlechaser early game mid game are garrsion, breto and gully. late game i went with breto, garrison and monika. it seems healer is kinda mandatory. i see it would be similar here else other non healers probably would need to rely heavily on consumables which normally only possible when you are at a much later game.

also look at the spiders.. they are just different skins:

It very much resembles BC:N yes, but to me that's a good thing. I can't wait to play it. And although it looks like BC:N I think the rpg part is going to be different. I am talking about leveling up, the abilities, and so on.

exactly this. not sure if airship being lazy or something. it's outright just a reskin battlechaser. i love battlechaser. just completed it but was not expecting an exact battlechaser clone from airship. they really drop the ball.

i will still play it but really disappointed with them.

Looks like a copy to me
Koby Dec 11, 2020 @ 6:03am
I don't mind if it is a copy. Battle Chasers was fantastic and thus I'm happy for more like it.
Honestly, the whole reason this game drew me in was cause it looked like battlechasers. Though I do admit that people who compare the two are right to think so. For a long while during the trailer I was confused and thought this was BattleChasers 2 or something, especially with how Monika and Ms Fortune looked so similar.

This isn't a critism personally, since I loved the art work. Just was confusing at first seeing as how similar the whole game looked in general. Glad to see its the same team though.

Exactly what I was thinking. Looks like a copy to me too.

Btw. you can get Battle Chasers for the price up to 2 euros on various key sites. You might consider buying the game before the riot clone releases.
TigerShark Dec 11, 2020 @ 12:35pm
Loved Battle Chasers, but yeah. This is a skin.
F.O.A.M Dec 15, 2020 @ 5:12am
why do people care about new stuff so much? a copy isnt bad if they perfected it. this game will be good if riot dont backseat. nightwar was a long time ago therefore they got more experience now and that leads to better games. at least it should but here we are with buggy garbage like cyberpunk and wasteland 3. wasteland 3 is still not playable in coop and its been out for a long time
