Both games they released under the Airship Syndicate studio (Battle Chasers & Darksiders Genesis) have been rated 9/10 on Steam and a score hovering around 80 on metacritic.
Airship Syndicate is the same studio that developed Battle Chasers and Darksiders Genesis. They are making Ruined King. The art and game is very similar to Battle Chasers. RK is going to be bigger game in scale confirmed by Airship Syndicate.
The Publisher is different. Riot Forge is publishing RK while THQ Nordic published Battle Chasers and Darksiders.
Riot Forge is a separate company from Riot Games that partners/funds/publishes with indie developers such as Airship Syndicate and Double Stallion games
developers make the game (aka airship syndicate)
publishers sell the game and put it in different stores and platforms (aka riot forge)
warhammer 40k releases being bad?
i dunno bout you, but a lot of recent warhammer stuff has been good with dawn of war 3 being the only exception like seriously...
Necromunda, awful. Space wolf is a mobile port card game. Mechanicus, boring as hell. Inquisitor was absolute trash on release, and only improved after massive patches. I should have included the dearth of WFB releases as well, most of which suck with the sole standout being WH Total war 2..but only if you spend a ton on the expansion packs and own the 1st game for Mortal Empires. Mordenheim was a complete flop as far as im concerned. There were a lot of players the first month, but its dead now Jim.
So yeah, that IP isnt doing nearly as well as you would expect.
that is what i fear most... i was hoping this is not a battlechaser clone.
but eurogamer interview reveals quite similar.. turn-based 3 party character. it's very similar to battlechaser clone as i see it.
I don't think you can compare Riot Forge games to their in-house games. Riot is the publisher and owns the IP, but it's different for a big reason: It's not an ongoing multiplayer game, and therefore the monetization will be different.
And what does any of this have to do with the quality of the gameplay?
LOR WAS A FLOP???
