Better then Blasphemous 1 and 2. The best "2D souls" I've played. Why such a low reviews?
This is the best "2D souls" I've played (although this is a metroidvania in terms of mechanics). Why Blasphemous , who is worse in almost every aspect Bosses, variety of unique enemies, combat system, platforming, leveling (its virtual absence), world design, has much higher ratings? Just because he was the first to hype? Casuals couldn't handle the healing system from Bloodborn? What is the reason?

I breezed through this game - its fine but the balance issues with non-STR users, the nothing of a story and some weird exploration quirks make this a step or 5 below B2.
I didn't play blasphemous 2 and barely any of blasphemous, but I agree about exploration quirks. There are points in the last faith where I had to look up where to go next, and they were almost never intuitive. I am looking at you "Go talk to random vampire"

Yup, the game does a really poor job of guiding you where to go. Figuring out where to go feels really clunky compared to most other good games in the genre I've played. It's just aimlessly wandering around hoping to stumble into the right path.
I enjoyed that the most in TLF - not sure where to go, head to one of the empty sections of the map, see if you can progress in that direction. Discover a pathway that looks like it requires an ability you don't have to access? No problem, mark it on your map and keep exploring. Coming back later and making that previously impossible jump or grapple with your new abilities is very rewarding to me.

So in my book, lack of direction is one of TLF's best points.
All these posts and not one mention of 'Ender Lillies'... it's a good one too.

As for Blasphemous vs TLF........ Blasphemous > TLF > Blasphemous 2
Death's Gambit and Salt and Sanctuary are both top notch. Really good stuff there. Also Vigil is very nice if you haven't played it. Some real good story beats.

EDIT: Nevermind Vigil: The longest Night. No longer available on Steam Store!

Which is a damn shame. It's a really, really good metroidvania from a tiny Chinese team, very unfairly overlooked.

Salt and Sanctuary is still king to me
I would like to try it but the art style is just fugly.

Blasphemous has WAY more interesting story and visuals. It's like the whole other level of quality comparing to this game. This game on other hand has zero identity. It's whole thing is "Bloodborne but 2d" and it never gives you anything beyond that. I mean they could at least try, but they seem to be just too obsessed with Bloodborne and Fromsoftware in general.
And yeah, saying that this game is "better" is a big stretch. Better in quantity maybe, but quality? I doubt that.

This. I've been saying basically this to anyone that tries to say this is better than Blasphemous 1 and 2. Sure, this game is great and I had a blast with my first playthrough, but better than Blasphemous?! Blasphemous 1 and 2 play so smoothly and they are so polished, even at the beginning they were both more polished than this game, no offense to the devs. Just stop with the comparative nonsense.
