Elemental weaknesses
Anyone actually know what enemies are weak to each of them? I don't seem to get impressive results from any of these, generally speaking.

Most importantly bosses. Even more importantly, Manfredd.

At the moment I have the sword whip with the option of various enchantment power ups, and the Rift of Blood. Also guns but they don't seem that impressive vs bosses, and magic sucks for some reason.

Weaknesses and strengths are kind of meh. You can use any damage type against any enemy with success. The only thing is the status process won't fire if someone is strong against it. I used both katana weapons (blood and darkness) with stunning results. For enemies strong enough to survive long enough for the statuses to proc, they're both extremely effective.

RE: Manfredd: Rift if Blood works OK. For magic, the darkness bomb one is extremely effective if you smack him with it and get it to proc Nightmare.

Interesting. What does that even do to enemies? I know it reverses the player's movement.

I feel like I'm just not doing enough damage. It will take forever to destroy his health bar. Other people seem to somehow have abilities or upgrades which for me seem to be impossible to reach due to not having the double jump.

OK so apparently you can't proc nightmare on enemies. But you do something else with dark damage that makes you regenerate your magic points (focus) whenever you hit the enemy with dark damage.

Blood curse though... I'm confused by. It doesn't cause the bleeding effect.

Does it just make the enemy more vulnerable to taking physical damage?

Nightmare does proc, and causes a DOT for quite a while.
Bleed, when it procs deals ~50% more damage per hit while it is active.

Well I read elsewhere that you got a different effect instead but I suppose we can call both of them nightmare. Doesn't have the same effect though right? Enemies don't get confused they just give you focus.

Well, they take pretty decent DOT. Much like you do under the effect of nightmare (in addition to the confusion). Nightmare is the status proc from Dark damage.
