Obviously
a) lack of experience and
b) lack of/improper communication
Also a good setup is key.
That means knowing where your hay, gas, medkits and goats are.
An obvious one is to unlock all doors before burning the first goat.
Also knowing which paths are more likely to be clear. Keeping one guy as dedicated medkit/demon/anna scout is very helpful.
You can control her kills by baiting her. You can run her in circles inside the house, voluntarily dying to her to buy time for your teammates.
Running around without absolutely knowing where you go is a recipe for disaster.
I finished it on nightmare multiple times by now so it's not impossible.
It's kind of the point of the game to keep trying to find out how you can beat her.
Knowing where your items are, having all doors unlocked and having roles assigned to your group members. I think that's literally what you'd do if you were in such a situation irl.
The odds are stacked against you, clearly. You're rather defenseless if you decide to wing it, giving it all up to chance. Even with all preparation things can go south rather quickly.
It just takes one freak demon to throw your attempts over board. That's what nightmare mode is.
If anything, it's too easy, considering the infinitely spawning medkits.
If you know how, you can just hide from her. I've had her bump into me multiple times while on a blind chase and she did not pick me up.
The tryharding starts when you hoard all the goats at the altar before starting anything.
And even that is debatable. Even if it's boring, it's probably exactly what you'd do irl.
If you just want to Azazel & Chill you can play normal mode.
For all intends and purposes, your request does not compute.
(Play Hardcore mode while expecting a Softcore experience, complaining you cannot win while not playing for the win)
Which is kind of fine by me. I think new maps and all that can make it scarier in the future.
Hardcore really just tests your game knowledge and team coordination.
But that example is kind of why I mean that Hardcore is too easy. You can run her in circles until she catches you, your teammate follows with a medkit, instant revives you just to repeat the same pattern again and again until you've got all goats.
That is probably the cheesiest method, which you don't even have to use. Even just playing the game in a regular fashion is viable. Not easy, but viable.
I've had goats wait to be sacrificed for quite a long time. Adorable little rats.
