TAB campaign is extremely easy to the point of NOT needing any solutions at all, any bruteforce approach works. Spamming nothing but archers works.
TAB is not easy, especially if you think you're going to do it with just archers, or no farms, or whatever. I recently made a thread about how it's mathematically impossible to get enough food without farms or other economic techs. I'm talking about the campaign ofcourse.
TAB feels more convenient at times though. I like the finite resource model of DNO, but having to constantly relocate fish huts and lumber mills is a bit annoying. I think that contributes to the repetitive nature of it.
That being said, I think they're both good games, but TAB feels more interesting and varied.
As far as I know, these games are not very well known in the US but they were extremely popular in central and eastern Europe, where the devs also come from.
Also Tabs tech tree made insane difference in campaign, i do not believe for a second anyone thinks TAB is easy if you play any reasonable difficulty.
In DNO i often can hold first wave without any extra units built, yes i'll use all the magic but i wont need it later anyway, just going full greed leveling to farms and making so much food i can constantly trade it for gold without starvation.
Im also unsure what you mean limited resources? DNO is not limited resoures... or maybe im missing something? neither is TAB
Fisheries run out of fish. Trees get cut down.
Eventually you can have sustainable tech, but that takes a while. Having to constantly set up new lumber mills and fisheries to replace old ones gets annoying
Those are tiny issues. Game already has pop ups which warn you and center onto empty fisheries and lumber mills. Trees come in whole forests and fishes congregate in bigger groups. There's even rebindable keyboard shortcuts for construction
No doubt, but it's still an annoyance. Not one which I think detracts from the enjoyment of the game. It is an element that feels more repetitive than TAB.
but being "greedy" (or just play good) is allways neccesary on harder difficulties.
Undead are a truly unique faction, as they have different ressources
