Lets talk about "Your worst NIghtmare" Difficulty
Seriously, I love a Challenge in this Game, but give me a chance to win at least. Especially later levels its impossible, even with every cheese i can think off, kiting, boost economy trough selling these 6 (yes 6) units i get at the start. Dont wanna talk about big groups of enemies around ur starting point.
Worst part is that Waves come from every direction and way to much, cant get past day 10+ in many cases even when i plan like crazy and save/reload and 80% in pause mode.
Random generated Maps are nice but i dont wanna restart 100times to get this map where u have a narrow passage or something and good Hills to have a slight chance of winning.

Switching to Hardcore feels like u went from Pro Boxing to beat up some 10y old kids.

I enjoyed the first few maps but I'm now stuck. Managed to kill 2/5 Nightmare Generals in the map but the wave that comes is BS to beat. It's doable (I think) but you have to play perfectly. Rush economy, don't lose any troops, plan your defenses well.

I am mission 12 on Nightmare difficulty, and the only mission I struggled with was Ozzy.

But Nightmare is not for everyone. If you find it too hard, just play 1 lower?

Personally hit a bit of a brick wall on Mission 13 (The New Fleet of the Resistance) , any tips will be appreciated, so far it seems like a test on how fast you can reach T3 and get stupid amounts of balistae and crossbow men), the never ending armoured runner crabs are the bane of me but I only had 1 attempt so far, but darn this mission is hard.

Ozzy (the boss intro was hilarious), Heffalump Country and Beetle Pass were challenging but ultimately more fun than tedious.

Try treating the individual missions as a puzzle, there usually is some sort of a trick or rather way how developers intended to play the mission.

However, the hardest - "Your Worst Nightmare" difficulty feels like an efficiency test more than anything (build order, figuring out where to wall off to hold off a wave, etc.) - to be honest looking forward to finishing the Resistance campaign on Nightmare and getting to playing the rest of the Campaigns on lower difficulty,

Last but not least I must admit that more than a bit of RNG is involved (random pick ups, hill/choke generation) and last but not least - save scumming, winning the missions on first try is more dumb luck than anything else to be honest, saving at the start and scouting the surroundings to know where the pick ups and enemy camps are helps a ton.

But it is possible to get any scenario from 1st try, without save scuming and restarting mission, only one exception here is the insane difficulty on 2-3 top notch missions in each company, because in this scenarios you find that trick that is intentded only when it will be too late, and it will be better to restart the mission instead of doing comeback

Insane version of new fleet of resistance is definetilly my favourite top1, and maybe it is one of three the most hardest maps here :D

Agreed that it is possible, but again - I am not that kind of a masochist :D
It's enough that the difficulty is cranked up to the highest level, also managed to crack the New Fleet for the Resistance, already on day 30, and stabilised, only gotta reach shore, build ships and GTFO out of this crab hellhole :D

EDIT: I DID IT! I FINISHED THE BLOODY CAMPAIGN ON NIGHTMARE!

I have to agree. Most of my wins from nightmare were just me cheesing the game and abusing the mechanics.

You literally have to pre built your wall not knowing where the wave is going to come from. Built it at the wrong place? Time to load back a save. >.>

I have to agree that the highest difficulty is too much towards the un-fun and grindy side. For me I enjoy the challenge to be incredibly efficient making my base and progressing the city. What I don't like is needing to save-scum because the game wont tell me where the enemies will be coming from or where they will walk, will they split up? I also think the randomization of the starting point is off. Sometimes there's good resources just next to my base, other times I can spend several minutes running all around and still not find any. Fixing these two things would improve gameplay at the harder difficulties

There is a trick on the helfalump mission =P check the achievement - I'm on fleet of resistance as well, it's a tough one with all those waves, I haven't been to the armored crab part yet though, will probably restart and see if I can clear crab early for the free space :D

Well i play on challenge mode but without reloading on saves if i lose or see that its not enough i just start all over try to do better remember from where and how big the waves are i could say i play semi-nighmare xD
Moonie Oct 17, 2024 @ 10:45am
put more than 100h in the campaign xD

I find the normal difficulty already quite a chore to get through, i feel like the gameplay is just not fit for the campaign its barely any fun

And what is fun?

I'm looking forward to playing it on the hardest difficulty, but right now im playing the campaign on normal (2nd option as I believe that is normal) just to learn more about the game. understand the tidbits of units niches. And pathing/choke point choices. After I feel I have a good idea on how to play according to my style. I will go for my fav campaign on hardest. so far I like Sarranga better than Resistance, only played the loyal side till Sarranga.

So briefly said... a skill issue
