That saying I generaly build a bunch of fishing huts and build a bunch of food storages.
Generaly when most fish of the closer fishing spots start running out I still have a big pile of food stored. At this time my woodcuters have already cleared a big forest area that new free space is where I then put my farms.
1 keeper per 4-5 bushes is okay in longterm
if you want it fast, use any amount, but using keepers vs bushes in ratio more than 1x1 is kinda abundance, if you use more than 1x4 or 5 ratio > when bushes will be depleted you need to relocate workers, fore some time when the bushes will replenish
also for berrykepers it is crucial to use flag mark and zone control to be effective
fish is okay middlepack resousre, in maps with seashore it will be top1 resource even for early tier3 gameplay, but all are depletable, so you will need to do constant base expansion near seashore
farms are good, but only lvl 2 farms are better than berrykeepers, lvl2 farms need building with production growth bonus, but berrykeepers dont neet this building to be effective
lvl2 farm is better than lvl1 farm with production bones building, so with farms it is better to go high than wide
also you need to shorten the transportation route
for berry you need a barn bordering the bushes, per 4-5 bushes you need one lvl1 barn at the start, lvl2 later, lvl3 only when you have overproduction and thousands of population to smooth out the whole peaks of consumption and production
for fish lvl1 barn per each pier, 1-2 hexes away, lvl 2 barn if you need to cover two piers, lvl3 is wasting money becasue it need lots of rare resources and you will destroy it after and lose half of resources
for farms, lvl 1 barn will not work at all, only lvl2 or lvl3
for each lvl1 farm you need to use barn 2, maximum 1 hex away from main farm building
for each lvl2 farm with production bosst you need to use barn 3, or two lvl2 barn buildings, maximum 1 hex away from main farm building
overall tier
farm2(with production bost)>farm2>berry (when optimised)>farm1\fish>berry (nonoptimised with scattered bushes)
keep a new farm per 80 ppl
not necessary
farm lvl1 uses iron, and not so effective as lvl2
also game is very flexible and it is possible to ignore lvl1 farm, and play via berry untill you have lvl3 main building and lvl2 farms
especially if you have other food options, and you dont need rapid growth of population on tier 2
and especially if you want to shorten the perimeter of your base, which is crucial for some scenarios
one farm will use 96 hex of space without barns
good berry outpost is around 17-21 hex and barn will be included in this space
if you need to fortify it with walls, the length of walls will be incomparable, and resources needed for that also
one berry capable of doing 16-24 food with good placement, average 6 berries get 120 food per day
even 6 workers on lvl 2 farm will get less, even with production boost
farms are expensive to loose, but berries no
both can be played with zero wall strategy, but farms without walls will require much bigger army to cover them, because you just cant loose them, instead of berry outposts
