Any other way to get gold?
I'm having a lot of trouble getting gold in a reasonable amount of time. As far as I know the only two ways to get it are to find it in a cart (which I never have) or by selling resources. Food, wood, and stone are barely worth anything, and iron is scarce and slow to generate. I just don't know how you're supposed to get the large amounts of gold that are needed for upgrades and some mission objectives.

It's a challenge, for sure. I think the upgrade from T2 to T3 castle is hideously expensive, but whatever. It can be done, you just need to have a lot of resource gathering, storage, and a market. It may take the course of a few in-game days but it can be done. I went from T1 all the way to T3 castle in about 7-10 days but I'm sure it can go faster and also depending on what scenarios or modes you're playing. IDK much about the campaign, I usually just go through sandbox and hope wherever I'm plopped, there's adequate resources within reach. It will take several trips on the airship to trade. I got to the gold needed for the T3 castle by selling some food then wood and whatever else. It may take tactical awareness depending on map to ensure you get a steady flow of materials for sale to make this happen, all the way dodging those smelly, obnoxious, superstitious, rebellious toads who, for some reason, want to depose you. It may sound counter to want to sell goods when you want to upgrade your castle and make certain buildings to ensure your survival, but that may be the point in doing so - selling stuff to make money. I think that's the key IMO. Sell stuff, upgrade your castle, research tech, concentrate on massive stockpiles going forward so you can have walls, troops, and the like.

Getting the other upgrades in the castle research panel helps gather faster. And it's definitely worth it if you can get to T3 castle, to invest in swamp mining for infinite metals. You'll need it once you've laid bare everything within a radius, lol. And once you have farms and foresters going, it's easy to swap resources for something else if you're short through trade, especially if you need the stone for building defenses and raising certain troops that rely on stone for buying a troop type.

Takes about 3 trades or 4.5 ungraded secs. a day is about 3 secs (haven't tested it yet, but night seems to be just over 1 sec based on trade times. if you are lucky you can trade stone and not wood. yielding you a max of 25 gold for 400 trade after upgrade.

35 gold is rather easy to get, its the other resources that can be annoying. and that is based on the RNG factor. sometimes you have bad stone nodes, other times bad iron. so it might take a few more trades for those meaning I think you should be able to do it if dedicated 3 days.

Just build up a resource like wood or stone and then trade. If you can get to endless fast you can get massive resources to trade.
