big oof, if you don't upgrade the mines. This is a huge mistake and one that I didnt even know for a long time. Higher tier mines will allow you to get more resources out of each mine.
For example, if you click on a mine and it says it has 200 resources, a lvl 1 mine will get 200.
Lvl 2 can extract double the amount, so in this case, that would be 400.
Lvl 3 can extract triple the base amount, so 600 total. But if you wait too long to upgrade, those resources are just lost. So if it had 10 left, and you upgrade to lvl 2, you will get 20.
Its why upgrading town hall is important. Getting higher lvl mines will allow you to get more resources before they dry up.
- Farm upgrade
Farms take up a lot of space, so if you can squeeze extra productivity out of them, without needing more land, its a bonus. You can think of land as a resource on top of all other resources you already have to manage. So on a map where land is more restricted, its nice to upgrade them without having to use up more land.
- This applies to all buildings you mentioned that need an upgrade. Builders hut/ gravediggers/ lumbermill , etc. You can upgrade them, get more workers in them, without needing more land
( i will admit that the higher tier lumber mills are trash. Except for a few situations, getting a tier 1 mill that costs no resources is better)
- You say that you're struggling to get past day 35 (or wave 35, your wording is unclear).
From what I can tell, it looks like you have problems gathering enough resources to build a strong defense and army. Since a lot of your suggestions are to just straight up boost the productivity of resource collection, you don't need a rework of the game to achieve this
***
- To boost resource collection, you just have to place storages next to the places they are being made. Make sure you build multiple if they overfill, otherwise productivity massively drops if workers suddenly have to walk miles to the next nearest storage site.
- This apples for farms as well, Make sure you have food storage right next to the farms.
If you have tier 3 townhall, you can also add the workers building (forget what its called) to get even more productivity
Also dont be afraid to be aggressive and mine resources super far from your base., You dont need a massive wall to protect them. Just put up small walls and treat it like an outpost. It should have the highest tier mines, storage nearby. Small walls to defend and a few crossbow men. Maybe even a builders hut nearby if you want to build stuff quickly. Just strong enough to survive a raid, but if a wave is coming through, then destroy all of it and then rebuild when the wave is over. The amount of resources you can extract quickly would outweigh the cost of setting it up
- for the raids, they do play a siren before they come. I personally have most of my sound settings on low, because the announcements can get annoying. But it makes hearing the sirens a little easier. Also , you should have scout towers all over the place, and look at the mini map periodically. Or just have a small portion of your army stationed near the N/E/S/W of your base that can respond to anything. When you are attacking enemy camps, dont use your entire army, have some standby soldiers than can respond to raids
- 1 more thing about the raids. If someone is attacking any of your stuff which includes buildings/walls/defenses/ citizens/workers, pretty much everything. There is an attacking notification that you can just click on, and it will show you where on the map, they are attacking. This is if you cant find where they are.
- You can also press alt tab (i think), and it will highlight all enemies. Makes seeing them behind structures very easy
- for the grave diggers, all you need to do is build a cemetery where the majority of the dead bodies are. Its a cheap building to make
- then click on your gravedigger houses and set a priority to where the dead bodies are. They will clear the bodies by going back and forth very quickly. You can then demolish the cemetery while your army is nearby to clear it out
- I mainly do this if workers are nearby the bodies. If they get sickness, they're productivity drops so its important to clear out the bodies
