For example i like the "Undead" one, but think the map is too small (which i think is a problem with all maps, as i feel like they are generally too small).
With further customization options, i could create an Endless Session i prefer to play.
Presets just dictate what i can play.
They are ok as some sort of scenarios and to allow stuff like Leaderboards as having presets means all start with the same conditions.
Yet i would prefer to have the option to change the presets however i like.
Maybe even with more details.
Like how cool could it be to start with only one type of Undead Unit but increase the amount much faster and allow it to spawn from all directions?
Maybe give the option for a continued onslaught, without a wave timer but spawning enemy armies all the time without a pause?
All of that would offer far more replayability and individual experiences than the presets can deliver.
And personally i dont see why these presets dont for example have a map-size option or a slider to adjust how many enemies are there at the start on the map and how fast attack waves spawn and how strong these waves are.
Are there many waves but weaker ones or few but stronger ones?
All of these settings feel mandatory for a game like this.
How about adding a hero concept?
I mean special units aka characters with enchanted physical ability or skills, be it passive or active skills, fitting setting.
Consider making more entertainment content, game being entertainment can make you more money, if it's what you are interested in. At least it will bring more satisfaction to your players.
Characters can help to some degree with that, consider cases from slash-and-hack top-view games: it usually looks majestic as your character can go through lines of enemies, break their formation, e.t.c.
And also: why is there no plan for multiplayer?
When I say multiplayer I mean PvE wave-based coop, not competitive
There is obviously a request like this one in your community, even as DLC will work, I guess, that aint a free work after all.
Yep, some players have already asked for heroes, that's something to consider. Do you have anything else to suggest? =)
Regarding multiplayer/coop - it's technically not possible. The game has been designed for singleplayer since the beginning.
The campaign in "They are Billions" is negligible. No one really care about it. But the custom maps provided by the community are the real deal. They are basically custom endless mode or custom scenario maps. Players keep on playing that game for hundreds of hours because of the custom maps or custom scenarios. The unique abilities which each zombie type have, enable them to do so.
If players spend hundreds of hours playing this game over and over again with different kind of challenge, then you'll get many praises from them and DNO will become viral.
I gave an advise to developers of Aquatico on how to make it a spectacular city building game, but the developers banned me instead. They become stubborn in pursuing their own roadmap, which basically contradicts my advise. So as you can see, they got very low scores. Hence very few sales.
I consider myself as a hardcore game player. I have 16-core CPU, 32 GB RAM, 6.5 TB harddrive (HDD + SSD Nvme), and dual GTX 1070. I have almost 300 games in Steam, GOG, Battle Net, and EA App (Origin) from various genre. RPG game, RTS game, Story game, Open World game, Tactical game, Action Adventure game, TBS game, FPS game, and more.
So trust me when I say that focusing on campaign, will only consume huge effort but very little impact on the fun factor. Your fun factor comes purely from custom scenarios and purely random maps, with customized waves.
