Hey everyone! We're excited to bring you a recap of the latest progress from the past month.

The team has been hard at work squashing bugs, refining gameplay, and adding some exciting new features. Here's a look at what’s been happening behind the scenes:

Great turnout at GDEX in Ohio!

We had some very competitive (and loud!?) battles with 10 of our floor demo games available to play. Huge thanks to our publisher, Midwest Games, for setting up the battleground.

Game Progress

Updated Gameplay: As we near our public playtest/demo, we're going through our 50 mini games to fine tune game feel, balancing difficulty for AI players, and making sure gameplay is purely chaotic in the best way possible.

A ton of work behind the scenes but not super "bullet point friendly" for a dev log :)

Enhanced Gameplay and Visuals

We’ve improved various gameplay elements and environments bringing the game closer to it's final look and feel.

New Character Select: We've moved out of the "GameStop" inspired shelving space and into a big box store! The store has closed and the toys have come to life. Now with 100% more in-store musak playing over the speakers.
New UI and Sound Updates: From revamped game recaps and score displays to victory emotes and sound effects, we've made sure that each match feels even more rewarding and immersive. We've also added separate sound volume settings for characters, so you can tweak your experience to perfection.
Updated Environments: Several game environments have received final 3d artwork implementation and lighting, design, or camera angle upgrades for a more polished look. We’re continually fine-tuning the visuals as we head toward a public playtest / demo. Stay tuned!
New Character Parts and Audio: For those of you who love customizing your characters, we’ve added new parts like Muncher's dino arms and full characters like Miss Purrington or Boxy —along with their unique sound packs for their efforts (wins, losses, hits, etc).

General Improvements

We’ve also introduced some new features to keep gameplay fresh:

Player Score Badges: In scored games with a timer, we now hide all player scores with five seconds left in the game to add to the tension of the final results reveal. Muahahahaha.
Mini-Map: A brand-new mini-map feature has been added to Super Kart and Snowman Slam, offering better navigation and a "Mario Kart"-style experience to help keep you navigate.
Tournament Tweaks: The FIW Tournament now features random shakeups between games, adding extra layers of strategy and unpredictability. Shakeups are events where players steal, earn, or lose points that round.

Steam Remote Play Together Fest

Hello all,

Today, Floor is What!? will be participating in Steam’s Remote Play Together Fest. We will be streaming the game and talking through some of the development updates and through some of the feature sets in the game.

Remote Play Together Fest runs from February 12th - 19th starting at 12PM Central. This event is all about Remote Play Together. Remote Play Together works where one player owns and runs the game, then up to four players can join in the fun. This will be important for the Floor is What!? as playing with your friends and family can be a big part of the experience.
