FATAL ERROR - Epic Games Overlays

Since Hot Wheels on Epic Games is crashing, I decided to buy it from Steam and to my surprise the game works perfectly without any crashes. However, I decided to link my Epic Games account because I have friends on Epic Games who got the game and are playing normally.

Guess what my surprise was when I decided to enter the visual editor and start a quick race... That's right, the same "FATAL ERROR" error that made me leave epic appeared here in my steam game...

This means, the Epic Games Overlays is causing the errors for those who picked up the game from the Epic Games Store

How to fix this? I don't know... I think we need to wait for them to correct this.

I got it from the epic store as did my son and it's playing just fine for us. When did you last update your system drivers?

I updated my system drivers about 10 minutes ago and am still getting the same fatal error. I can't even start a Quick Race.

There is a problem with Epic Games Overlays. We need for a fix by devs :/ Some PCs have these problems.

I get this issue whenever I try to access the livery editor. It worked fine for the first day when I got it for free on Epic, but a day later the livery editor stopped working and crashes the game.
Was thinking of buying the game here if it was good but not gonna buy a broken game...

Hi. I tried everything probably. Change graphics settings - still error. Change to Dx11 etc - still error. Even update drivers - still error. But... I have it only, when I trying to change color. Game is on Epic

Unfortunately there's nothing to do. Need to wait for the devs to fix it the Epic Games Overlays.

I hope they fix the epic games version too, I was looking for a fix and found that it is a old problem it is not new so W11 is not the problem. It crashes for me too if I try quick race, I didn't try multiplay or track editor, only single play campaign is working fine.

Problem with EPIC GAMES OVERLAY start from the first start of EPIC GAMES OVERLAY for all games (several of them) with multpiplayer for EGS verison of games and with multiplayer (cross play or probably all) with STEAM VERSION of such games who worked with EPIC USER throw EPIC GAMES OVERLAY ........... some TCP issue probably depends on region (regional issue??),,,,,,,,, I try to investigage issue with one game and try to buy this game on EGS and on Steam and it was same issue for both platforms.

I don't have this game on EGS, but I have link from EGS to STEAM.

UPDATE. I bought STEAM VERSION of HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED. I don't have HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED in EGS because in Russia there was no giveaway of this game. I had linked my steam and Epic games account throw EGS site long time ago forever (because if I unkink it I can't link this steam account again) . I run multiplayer creation in HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED, but I don't see overlay there, only my steam friends, but I don't have friends in EGS. After see my steam friends I cancel it and I don't have a problem. How you see the problem? Need to have a friends in EGS and run game with egs friends ? There are some another setup to switch on crossplay inside the game to run Epic Overlay ?

So as I remember before I got same problem with Overlay MOTOGP21 on steam. Motorgp21 is milestone too.

and I run MotoGp21 and see that now after update this app ask additional special APP LINK to EPIC for list of friend and other options. Now multiplayer is empty in MOTOGP21 game, but I think they solve the issue in July , 2021 and probably now it will work at least with friends .

But my Hot wheels unleashed application do not ask Hot wheel Unleashed application link to EPIC GAMES STORE with allowing for list of friends.

So, I think that steam HOT WHEELS app only look to STEAM list of friend for now, but they have to add app link to epic games with allowing list of friends.

But I don;t know probably EPIC HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED APP have to create app link to EPIC with allowing EPIC GAMES FRIENDS, overwise multiplayer can't work.

But because of differencies on logic and in apps of games from different platform (EPIC, STEAM) some changes from EPIC GAMES STORE APP have some influence to STEAM APP and both APPs can't stop working;-)))

Probably if you want to play steam app, you can delete temporatory HOT WHEELS APP LINK in EGS settings (don't delete STEAM link, only delete STEAM HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED APP link, which created by EPIC APP, and don't need STEAM, because for STEAM probably whey forgot about crossplay.
