I was excited till I saw "Common, Rare and Legendary"
I was looking at some gameplay of the game and I was pretty excited to see all my favorite Hot Wheels until I saw that each car had a rarity attached to them.

Great, loot boxes and micro transactions to unlock my favorite cars.

The game has turned into a huge NO from me. I dont wanna have to wait for a loot box to hopefully get my favorite Hot Wheel because its "Legendary".

Im sure this will carry over into the track builder with only the cool set pieces sold in the real money store.

We'll see what happens when this game releases and I wont even think about buying it till a month after all the reviews come out to see if they wait to add microtransactions till after the reviews are out.

Please dont monetize the hell out of this game.

All cars come in all rarities. It's more of an upgrade system than anything else.
There are no lootcrates, but there are supposed to be season passes.

There are no lootboxes, the rarest types of cars are unlocked in the campaign.

Yeap! I'm with OP on that!
I'm worried!
Despite not enjoying tons and tons of DLCs, I think the way most fighting games does season passes (SFV, Tekken 7, DBFZ) would be OK, or something like the way Rocket League used to be like having some cool new cars as cheap DLCs that were available all the time for purchase!
If they add lootboxes, MTX or some rotating store crap like CTR Pitstop they'll ruim this game for me and I won't spend a penny.

Hur dur rarity bad

Not like there are dozens of games that do that without lootboxes or anything, right? Just gotta be negative only
More misinformation from people on these forums.

Gotta wonder when these trolls are gonna quit LMAO!

Now season passes, as in classic DLC season passes, or season passes as in the ones Fornite started?

We don't know.

The developers promised no microtransactions. But on the other hand, I think we've all seen various devs/publishers break the very same promise

Yea, there's no lootboxes, I assume its just like a power rating system, so you'll have races with cars of only a certain rarity or maybe races that have unlimited rarity.

I just watched a stream on Twitch and there ARE loot boxes.
Unclear whether you can buy/unlock them with real money, or not.
For some reason the official website does not have an FAQ that answers any of these questions, which is kinda... odd.

Is anyone playing Hot Wheels? I bought the ultimate stunt edition with 3 days early access but it won't let me download it till the 30th.

"loot boxes" can be acquired only with in game currency. So much disinformation...

And where can this information be found from official sources?
Also, just because it uses in-game currency doesn't mean you can't buy in-game currency for real money. Plenty of games do it exactly like that.

Who said that it would be otherwise?

As it stands, you cannot buy anything for real money in-game. Doesn't necessarily mean they won't do that in the future , of course, but it looks like they are doing a season pass approach instead.
