The irony.. Like Gollum a misunderstood game
This game did launch with some technical issues but putting that aside the actual game is a solid platformer with some stealth. It is definitely not as bad as a lot of the critics rate and it 100 percent was not reviewed accurately. The game does have some strange problems in it's core gameplay loop but I personally found solving the puzzles and finding where to go enjoyable. It does platforming very well and the game looks very good with ray tracing on! I am on a EVGA nvidia ftw3 ultra 3080 12 gig GPU.

The other main thing I would like to discuss is the controls. I watched a few streamers prior to getting the game and too many of them honestly just did not play the game well.. as in they were horrible at following directions and following the gameplay mechanics on the controls. For example I saw people full on leaping off of edges when you are suppose to simply drop etc. This game is misunderstood and unfortunately I think there was too much hype around it as well causing for some unrealistic expectations. I even saw a lot of people saying "they wish they could stab" the orcs etc. This game is another victim of people genuinely just not understanding the game (hence the discussion title) for what it is. It's a Gollum game. Just remember that before buying and I would wait until performance issues are patched up but in it's current state I give the game a 6.5/10 after patches i give it a 7/10. I enjoy the game and will be finishing it!

It's definitely not for everyone but if you like platformers I honestly can say that you will probably have fun. 100 percent recommend if you are someone who loves LoTR's lore.

Agreed. I preordered it up on GOG. Daedalic is known for narrative story-driven adventure games of the point and click variety. I went into this expecting classic Daedalic with some nicer graphics and a controllable character with some basic platforming/navigational skills. So, other than the minor performance stutters, I'm not at all disappointed. The only gripe I have is with the price tag. However, licensing Tolkien cannot be cheap, and I understand the need to recoup licensing fees.

Sadly too many people these days would prefer to form their opinion off the hive-mind of video game reviewers rather than give this game a chance and find out for themselves whether they enjoy it or not.

Indeed, I think Gollum still has a role to play in all of this.
