Reverted to old version - it's forcing an update again?
Is anybody else who reverted back to the old version now unable to play again without updating? My game says update required but it won't update because I made the file read-only. But it also won't launch the game.

Happened to me. What I dd was maintain the updated version in a separate folder. When the update popped up and the write error showed up, I moved the 1.07 version out, and put the updated version back in, and made the file no longer be readonly. Let it update. Then move the newly updated back out, and put the 1.07 back in, and make the file readonly again. Worked for me.

Will we need to do this each time the game is updated?

Honestly, I don't see any way around it. I'm sorry.

Thanks for the tip, I'll defiantly do this once the game finishes the update (again) aghhh

How often is there going to be an update though?
There are going to be more, obviously.
Climax Studios did all the engine tweaks, I think. It isn't 'their' game, so it seems they only did a half arsed job of it. With next to no testing, if any. I doubt Bend had any time to test what Climax did either, it was dumped in their lap with barely enough time to implement it, let alone test.

Think about the timings. Sony suddenly cancelled all their live service games a couple of months ago ?? 2 months later, we get an update/remaster and DLC for Days Gone. I'd guess that Sony didn't have anything in mind for all their game studios to work on. So they instructed Bend to make a DLC and Climax to do a PS remaster/update to PS and PC graphics. All to be finished for release in 2 months time.
That gave Sony some time to come up with new ideas for future projects.

Wow so it needs to download the whole remaster again before it can download the new patch then I can delete it all and recopy the old one back over again to even see if it's still going to work hahaha love this hobby

And tbh the worst part is, im a few hours in and tbh the game is good but its not going to be worth all this work to keep it running in my preferred version. its clearly a pretty unfinished game. the npc's barely do anything. the world is not fleshed out at all like a Rockstar or even Ubisoft open world game. The graphics are great though, and certain aspects are well done. YMMV....
I feel all of you. Since it's a single player game, I'm seriously considering getting the GOG version.

I have to disagree this is one of the best games I've played in 20 years or so on the PS5 I already have around 600 hours and play the game again every 6 months or so, but this version and the problems are a complete let down.

Yeah I'm probably just not far enough in. The issues with this "remaster" are making me quite salty about it all. I bought the game well before all this started happening, but hadn't time to play it yet due to my backlog. And by the time I was going to start it, was right when this stuff started. And tbh I would not have bought the game if it looked like it does now with the extra dark lighting. I think it's a real downgrade tbh. I prefer to be able to see more details at night.

Is the new version only downloaded if you have the dlc? I got the base game and it's updated but the night time is the same (which I prefer too) it's like everything is lit up from the moonlight.
Set steam to offline mode before starting. Works fine. Took me a while to figure that one out. Haha.

Well Well looks like your correct for me, BUT only if you do the following or it will crash again.

When it's loading "you see the Days Gone Icon", DO NOT select it let it finish to the Controls screen "or you might crash days gone", once this is done HIDE the stream program using the controls at the top right of the stream client. setup as needed the you should see the Days Gone main game screen.
