HERE IS WHY YOU MUST BUY THE DLC AND REMASTER!!!
This is clearly Sony testing the water to judge how much interest still exists for this franchise, and the only and last chance we, Days Gone fans, have to show Sony that there are still many players who want more of this game.

If people keep trashing Sony and crying about a remaster as has been the case since the trailer dropped, we will get nothing. But if the hype and sales are high enough and even bring in new players Sony might consider making a sequel once again (the new assets will be already done).

If you believe that paying 10 greens for an update will lead to a sequel, you are delusional and naive.

Why would Sony test waters with a 10 dollar DLC (which should've been a free update, by the way, it adds simple features that could've been made in like two days or so), which will DEFINITELY sell less copies than the port, when the port itself sold well enough to show that people are interested in the sequel? Seems to me like Sony is just squeezing the rest of the life from the IP and leaves it to die off, wouldn't be the first time that happened (screw you, Sony). I will buy the... DLC, but only because I really like the game, having played it both on PS4 and PC, but I wouldn't recommend buying it, unless you're a really big fan.

So you guys think the DLC and remaster came out of thin air? Or perhaps you believe they were made by fairies? I hate to break it to you, but to make the new content Sony had to spend money first by redirecting employees and resources to work on the franchise again. Why would Sony spend any money on Days Gone if they are so desperately trying to squeeze the life of the IP and let it die off? Makes zero business sense lol

Indeed. Making games like Concord makes no sense either and yet it was made and killed almost immediately. When it comes to the remaster and the DLC, I'd imagine the main reasoning behind it, is to sell the game to more people on PS5 and it's included on PC only because Sony hopes to get an extra buck out of it.

That being said, IF they decide to actually allow the sequel to be made, it definitely won't be due to the sales they'll get this time around, but rather due to the initial success of the PC port, since they already know there IS an interest in this IP already.

Jesus Christ this thread is deranged. OP, your OP is total garbage, but I understand your point from what you've said in this thread. If you want to try and have a more productive discussion with some of the less mentally gifted gamers on here, try framing things more from a business perspective as you and others have in this thread. Maybe cook up a new thread with a better OP and delete this one.

As for those who're a little unhappy with OP, I'll offer an explanation. Sony as a business is interested in making that green line go up year over year. To do that, they need to invest in short-term and long-term revenue streams. If you look at something like God of War, that'd be a long-term revenue stream as a franchise. There is also PS+ and such. Now some of those long-running franchise that brought Sony money are going tits up, and many of their newer ventures have failed. It isn't outside of the realm of possibility that they're looking to Days Gone as a potential earner over the long term.

We can look at the DLC as a short-term revenue stream for a struggling Sony as it turns to Days Gone as a new source of long-term revenue. It could very well be used to gauge if full investment into the game as a franchise is worth it. None of this seems outside the realm of possibility. It IS all deduction, though. Take it with a grain of salt.

Now, I can't tell you if buying a DLC on PC will result in a Days Gone 2, let alone a good one. I also can't tell you if some new modes for fans and speedrunners is worth your money at whatever price point this ends up hitting. Personally it seems like a solid value at $10 if you already enjoy the core gameplay of Days Gone. I don't see it as a cash grab using features deliberately cut from the base game in order to extract value from them later. I'll probably pick it up post launch, assuming the honest reviews are good.

tl;dr OP's post isn't coming from a place of stupidity or shilling, his wording just sucks. His conclusion makes sense if you think about it. Wait for pricing and reviews before making any hard conclusions about the DLC, be they negative or positive.

Ah yes, only such a "mentally gifted" gamer tries to insult the intended reader in the first paragraph, while believing that they are going to read the rest of the post. I suggest turning the pompous down to maybe a 2.

I'm gonna be real with you chief, I just can help myself. I can't be assed to be nice to people who refuse to genuinely engage with others who have differing opinions on here. The 1 post drive-by asshats and people who respond to posts as if they hadn't read past the first 3 words (yeah, ironic). It's probably the wrong thing to do, so don't follow my example. Be nicer to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when you tell them that they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I considered writing a more nuanced OP when the DLC announcement came out, but by that time there were already a dozen posts trashing Sony with the usual tropes, so I had to dumb it down considerably to get the point across that DLC and remaster = good. And honestly, seeing the kind of responses I am getting it feels like it should be even more basic than that, or they are bad faith actors who like to trash anything Sony.

I don't think anything here needs dumbing down, it's just a stupid take, at least on PC it is. If they annouce the sequel at any point, they will take into account the fact that the base game sold well on PC and, IF it happens, the remaster on PS5, nothing more. So far it sold best on PC, meaning they are aware that there is interest in the series, and I doubt a 10 dollar "DLC" which is bound to sell worse than the base game will in any way influence Sony. If you think otherwise, then I'm sorry, but it's extremely unlikely.

I would like a sequel, but I would wait a few more years until DEI dies out, to make sure Deacon won't start french kissing dudes.
Medve 16 MAR a las 12:28 p. m.
I would rather pay for story content
Heretic 17 MAR a las 10:16 a. m.
Deacon won't be in the next game. It will be an entirely new story with new characters and a different part of appalachia.

That would honestly suck.

I agree with OP. For a game they didn't seem remotely interested in any more this is surprising and may mean something more...me thinks they keep an eye on public forums...
