That being said, IF they decide to actually allow the sequel to be made, it definitely won't be due to the sales they'll get this time around, but rather due to the initial success of the PC port, since they already know there IS an interest in this IP already.
As for those who're a little unhappy with OP, I'll offer an explanation. Sony as a business is interested in making that green line go up year over year. To do that, they need to invest in short-term and long-term revenue streams. If you look at something like God of War, that'd be a long-term revenue stream as a franchise. There is also PS+ and such. Now some of those long-running franchise that brought Sony money are going tits up, and many of their newer ventures have failed. It isn't outside of the realm of possibility that they're looking to Days Gone as a potential earner over the long term.
We can look at the DLC as a short-term revenue stream for a struggling Sony as it turns to Days Gone as a new source of long-term revenue. It could very well be used to gauge if full investment into the game as a franchise is worth it. None of this seems outside the realm of possibility. It IS all deduction, though. Take it with a grain of salt.
Now, I can't tell you if buying a DLC on PC will result in a Days Gone 2, let alone a good one. I also can't tell you if some new modes for fans and speedrunners is worth your money at whatever price point this ends up hitting. Personally it seems like a solid value at $10 if you already enjoy the core gameplay of Days Gone. I don't see it as a cash grab using features deliberately cut from the base game in order to extract value from them later. I'll probably pick it up post launch, assuming the honest reviews are good.
tl;dr OP's post isn't coming from a place of stupidity or shilling, his wording just sucks. His conclusion makes sense if you think about it. Wait for pricing and reviews before making any hard conclusions about the DLC, be they negative or positive.
Ah yes, only such a "mentally gifted" gamer tries to insult the intended reader in the first paragraph, while believing that they are going to read the rest of the post. I suggest turning the pompous down to maybe a 2.
I'm gonna be real with you chief, I just can help myself. I can't be assed to be nice to people who refuse to genuinely engage with others who have differing opinions on here. The 1 post drive-by asshats and people who respond to posts as if they hadn't read past the first 3 words (yeah, ironic). It's probably the wrong thing to do, so don't follow my example. Be nicer to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when you tell them that they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I considered writing a more nuanced OP when the DLC announcement came out, but by that time there were already a dozen posts trashing Sony with the usual tropes, so I had to dumb it down considerably to get the point across that DLC and remaster = good. And honestly, seeing the kind of responses I am getting it feels like it should be even more basic than that, or they are bad faith actors who like to trash anything Sony.
