Sniper Rifles
Hello,

i dont understand the deeper sense of Higher and Higher Damaging Sniper Rifles.
If i shot with a sniper rifle no matter what one in the Head of a Enemy he is dead.

Sure realy rare you run into a Biger Enemy with a High Health Pool but most of the time you are in melee up to mid range in that moment.

So for the realy rare moments you see a Big Enemy beforehand its good to have the extra Punch but most of the time it dont matters.

Later game the .50 cal is great, especially on the higher difficulties were even a headshot won't take down some enemies with a weaker rifle.

I have this weapon and am currently in the south.

It may be useful in extreme situations on very hard, but on normal difficulty you don't really need anything better than any sniper rifle as long as you hit the head.

I mean, it's a good thing, because it would be ridiculous if anything could survive a headshot, unless it was a mutant with a mutated super head.

In that respect, sniper rifles with multiple shots but less damage make more sense, because you can then safely take out multiple enemies with slow motion instead of having to reload after each shot.

It's not about me wanting to change that, but more about the question of whether I even need the thing except in extreme situations. One reason would be that these weapons not only do more damage, but also have a longer range. That would increase the times when they are needed.

So it's not a discussion about what should be changed, but rather about whether another sniper rifle might be better in most situations.
The .50 cal is good in every situation.
It might be "overkill" (:steamhappy:) at fairly short range, but killed is killed.
At longer ranges it's still good.

The reason military snipers like the .50 cal sniper rifle, irl, is it's flat trajectory.
It has very high powered rounds and is a heavy bullet, so ballistic drop and windage are less of a concern, until you get to very long ranges.
Smaller cal' sniper rifles are not less effective at shorter ranges. At longer ranges the ballistic drop and windage are more of a concern. But a 7.62mm bullet through the head kills you just as dead as a .50 cal :steamhappy:
Yes, the .50cal is a very good multiple shot sniper rifle. So i use it allways if i not fight hordes. And it seems the zoom is even further in with the .50cal then with my previous sniper rifle.
Honestly I've found it wasn't about the damage due to the fact of headshots, but the range and accuracy more than anything else. I can see an enemy from much further out, and all but guarantee a headshot kill, when every other firearm barely moves my camera slightly closer to by body as a "zoom" feature. That being said, I was able to easily, and regularly use the utility of range, almost never feeling like I wasn't able to put a sniper to work for me.

I use the Talon for taking out camps. I think the .50cal is overkill. Whatever suits you.
