Any way to play the original version?
Thats it. Didnt like the remaster, the sound mixing is awful. Also i liked things more on the original steam port, anyway to roll back through the steam app? tried beta options but its not avaiable.

Yes. This has been posted in several messages. Go to the post below and follow the instructions. It's currently the ONLY way to do so. Also, be forewarned. If they DO fix the issues in a later patch, and you rolled back to v1.07 via the option below, you need to uninstall the game, then go to where the Days Gone was installed (steam install folder)\steamapps\common and delete the Days Gone folder or rename it if you're too scared to. Then install the game from scratch. If you attempt to update the rolled-back install with the latest patches, it breaks the game and it will crash.

I copied and pasted this to my notepad to keep... other users on Steam forums provided these steps below: (They worked for me)

This is what I did.

Enter this from a web browser or the Run command: steam://open/console

Then in the Steam console type:

download_depot 1259420 1259421 2120063653185364239

This will download the old version to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1259420

(it doesn't appear in the downloads window so there is no indication it's downloading, but it is.)

When it's done, copy it to your Days Gone folder in steamapps\common\Days Gone

Finally, find the file steamapps\appmanifest_1259420.acf, right click it and make it read only, this stops Steam updating it again.

Inside the folder you've downloaded will be two folders, BendGame and Engine

Copy those two folders into \steamapps\common\Days Gone

If you have the newer version installed already, in the Days Gone install folder there will be the following:

BendGame
Engine
UnmodelExport
notify.log
SDL2.dll
umodel.cfg
umodel.exe

You can either delete all that if you don't want the newer version, or if you decide you may want to use it again, simply put all that in another folder (make a new folder and name it whatever you want).

btw you'll know it's finished downloading the old version when the size is 59 GB. Just in case that isn't obvious. You won't be able to do it until then.

!!!! You have to also change update settings to "Only update when I launch game" and "Never allow Background downloads"!!!!

I hope that makes sense.
Question - do you own the remaster if you own the original game or is it locked behind the Broken Road DLC?

The "remaster" for PC is not really a remaster as the PC already had better graphics. But the upgrade that is free includes the graphical additions to bring it inline with the PS5. Only the DLC with the horde mode, perma death, etc is paid. The update from last week patches the game for free with the latest graphical updates which isn't much. Also, many are experiencing sound and performance issues with the patch.

Yeah I know that much.

Apparently they changed some of the lighting and color tone as well. Was just wondering if we always had that because I don't really remember it. Speaking of more powerful hardware, they need an update that lets us edit horde size. That would be great. I couldn't ever get that XL horde size mod on Nexus to work.

I'm sure it's my 'leet skillz' but I couldn't get this to work on repeated attempts. I'm pleased for the people it worked for. It's a shame the devs can't just introduce a beta stream. Still, they've had my money anyway.
