You bought it

He did, but now you know you don't have to. So he saved you $10.
Is there anything else actually IN the DLC? Like, game stuff? Because... nothing about that list of things appeals to me in any way---if I wanted that, I'd play a different type of game. I like this game for the setting, the environment, the existing gameplay mechanics, and the story?

If they added to the story or expanded on any of that, cool. But I wouldn't pay money for random game modes that I don't want, because that's not what type of game this even is...
no i didnt

Yes, it's a bit too little.
Permadeath and Speedrun are nonsense...dying is just part of this game & Speedruns i hate this because to much stress.
Horde mode was my big hope...but I'm slowly becoming disappointed.

The least they could have done was add an co-op mode for Horde assault... we already have the excellent single player campaign. would of been nice to play with a friend. Giving away $15 for a hope of a sequel is hard to justify.

Or we need a DLC mini-campaign over 1 to 2 new areas after the main story
It's just another cash grab. What baffles me is that people think that by selling more DLC. Sony, which wasted $400 million on Concord, is now "Testing the waters" or wants reassurance to see if the people want to play a sequel to Days Gone "2".

What then does Sony now pursue to recoup all their development costs of now defunct I.P.s that were only ever being propped up by Blackrock, State Street and Vanguard investment firms?

Throw caution to the wind and try your hand at yet another new I.P.? Doesn't seem likely.

The easiest answer is to turn back to a franchise that you know is widely regarded as being of excellent quality, with a pretty sizeable loyal following that is just waiting to see what happens with the I.P.

Often development of sequel games begins with the studying and improving the first games while drawing up a storyboard and roadmap for them.

What baffles me is that people throw away money all day every day, on the new triple alarm jalapeno Mcblitzkrieg from mcdonalds on a regular basis, but then come here to steam and cry endlessly about how every single thing is a cash grab. Maybe on games rated 20% positive, that is probably a true statement, but games with 90%+ positive ratings, its probably a way to recoup the development costs of keeping an I.P. relevant, while drawing up those storyboards for what a sequel might look like now that the original developers are no longer in the picture.

if you want to support Sony, then buy better "the Last of Us Part II -Remastered" here on steam, the roguelike-mode "No return" ist much better.
Days Gone is a very good game, but this DLC is not so good i think.

Is it only points and speedruns they added? nothing new to the main game?

A 6 year old single player game getting DLC is pretty rare as it is. Pretty sure they are just seeing if there's any interest in future DLC or a potential sequel.

What Sony should be doing is reviving some of the countless IPs they have. I would absolutely love a ratchet and clank series port on pc, doesn’t even need to be remakes (that would be awesome though). They could do this with the previous god of war, uncharted, jak and daxter, infamous, killzone, sly cooper and almost too many more to list. Brilliant move releasing uncharted 4 on pc without the context of the previous games. Get everyone excited about these series and then you set yourself up for sequels to some if not all of them.

Your food analogy isn’t right, if I spend money on whatever McDonald’s crap, I didn’t wait for years for that item to come out and now have to wait another few years for McDonald’s to bring out some other product I might like. Like McDonald’s releases the mcchicken and I love it, then I have to wait years for them to release the mcchicken with cheese, which I don’t care for and now have to wait another chunk of time for something else. Sony has historically put out very good 1st party games so it’s really disappointing to see the course they have taken over the years.
