Do you have to restart Permadeath if you're detected in a stealth sequence/fail an objective but you don't die?

Since the game does save your progress after every act I was wondering if it also doesn't reset it when you have to restart a sequence due to being detected etc. Since you technically don't die

i hope not the normal thing about permadeath is if you die you have to start over

Hi, I've played about 2-2,5h so far on normal difficulty in permadeath. I've got detected in first stealth mission with nero, game DID NOT start from scrach but from checkpoint nearby.

I can confirm that the game just loads up the latest auto-save checkpoint. I just got caught in the Iron Mike settlement.
