Can't launch the game :(
I have just recently reinstalled my Windows OS. Its the latest version 24H2
I downloaded Steam and then Days Gone

Now when I launch I just get strange error messages. Sometimes it will crash immediately. Other times it will let me get to where Deacon and Boozer are chasing Leon on the bikes at the start

I have the latest Nvidia drivers but just to try I installed the Dec10 2024 driver as it was suggested by another user in a different discussion

I've followed every step in the crash guide too
Curiously Tomb Raider also crashed in a similar way so I think it may be DirectX related.

Here's some of the errors I am getting

"24H2" has been available in like 5 different iterations, are you using the stable version or the experimental "get the latest as soon as it's available" version.

It's STRONGLY recommended to never manually install Windows updates, they'll push you the experimental version instead of the stable version which will automatically be installed when IT'S ACTUALLY STABLE.

You also need to do a Steam verify of the file structure as well as a reinstall of your graphics driver.

Personally I'm betting you are installing the experimental Windows updates which usually just ♥♥♥♥♥ up everything gaming related.

It is stable build 26100.3476
Same errors in Tomb Raider also ??
I expect that TR uses different names, but they'll be the same equivalents??
Not that it'll be any good to me to try and help you diagnose the problem and fix it.

In the mean time, this is a pretty good troubleshooter

Solved this. My CPU performance clock ratio was too high and causing instability with Unreal Engine. Thanks to simon_pete15 and CLeRiC670 for trying to help with their answers :)

Posting in case anyone has a similar issue with shader or UE crashes
