HDR Washed Out

Hey there....

HDR seems broken for me. The Colours are washed out and ist seems blurry......
Any Idea ? Confic ingame dont work exactly....its noticable bettet, but without HDR the Picture ist Even better.

Gonna try that after work. Thanks. Could it also be conneted to the cable I'm usuing? The Ps4 is connected via HDMI, PC via display port. Both are gold plated and were really expensive to supprt 4k/3d. Should I try to connect the PC via HDMI?

Personally, I always go the extra mile. I have an 8k cable on my PC. I will never use it for 8k but this gives me the guarantee that the required flow rates will be achieved. I've often bought expensive cables that advertised HDMI 2.1 but ended up being only 2.0. Unfortunately, there are no legal regulations that the information on cables must be truthful. Usually Display Port 1.4 should be enough for HDR 4k. If you have problems, however, I would definitely test various cables.

I have the problem when I start days gone I first have to turn HDR on and off and switch from full screen to window mode until HDR is displayed correctly at all. And after the problems everyone has here, I'm confident to say that HDR definitely needs a patch. So if you absolutely can't make it run don't despair the HDR has serious problems. So it doesn't necessarily have to be up to you.

I've got a HDR monitor but honestly I've given up trying to use the setting. It's always a hassle to setup individually for every game, and the headache of not having an overall standard ain't worth it.

This is the only game where my established HDR settings for gaming aren't working as it seamlessly does on every other title. Whites are washed out, and black is too dark, making everything pitch dark, and giving everyone panda/raccoon-eyes.

Then the HDR doesnt work correct. Try to turn on and off HDR and go from Fullscreen to window and back. Until the DR works correct. I know its stupid but this game has serious problems with HDR.

So far I've been following every post I can find revolving HDR here and on Reddit trying absolutely everything the community is suggesting with no luck so far. I hope switching from Fullscreen to window and back will do it!

Same here. Mass effect legendary edition gave me HDR options, this game does not.

There are Games doesnt find HDR if its not activatet in windows.
Resident Evil Games does, Days gone not.
Switch it on in Windows and you see it in the Options.

I'm curious about the max nits option, though. My monitor is a DisplayHDR 600 monitor, so it's only capable of ~600 nits; do I set the max nits option to 600? That's what I did since I figured there was no sense in trying to get more.

The problem with this post is that you probably don’t have a frame of reference for what HDR is even supposed to look like. If the highest display option that you have access to is HDR600, then just enjoy that and stop worrying about it. You did everything you could do in order to enable HDR in game on PC. If you are not satisfied with the quality, go out and waste $1500 on a LG QLED or $1200 on the ONE Asus ROG monitor that has a HDR1000 certification.

This is the main problem with HDR. Personally, I blame the manufacturers' greed for money. They sell you a TV and then you have to bring someone in who sets you right. If you have no idea what the end result looks like, HDR is more of a hindrance than an improvement over SDR. Unfortunately 99% of all users are not even willing to do the work. And as far as your suggestion is concerned, simply getting a UHD-Certified TV is not really the solution. I agree that the quality is guaranteed but the part with the setting is still there. I recently set up a 3400 euro television set and apart from the obvious quality, the menus and settings are just as clear as on cheap devices. The problem is mostly not the panels. It's just the software. For example, take a look at Windows 10 HDR. That is a single switch. Ridiculous. Somehow I agree with you and somehow your tip is very wrong.

Just started playing the game and I notice this too. Found a fix that worked for my system. It appears washed out when I have HDR on while the game is in exclusive fullscreen. But the colors get fixed when I set window mode to *Fulscreen Windowed". I guess that's the same as borderless window.

It took me a while to figure out, but in my case I need to set a 4K RGB full resolution and restart my PC in order for DG not to start in ♥♥♥♥♥♥ color HDR. Usually my screen is at 4K 120Hz without HDR support, because of GPU compatibility limitations, and switching back to 4K 60Hz RGB full doesn't seem to solve the issue, not even by turning HDR on/off in-game and switching between full screen/window/borderless. I need a full restart after applying the resolution in nVidia Control Panel.

Weird... I knew games where you have to set HDR manually in Windows10 has issues, but this is so random. Anyways, it's worth it. HDR in this game is really something.
