There's plenty of evidence out there. And if you lived in Japan, you'd know all this.
They are a troll that starts bumping old / random threads here just for the heck of it and trying to argue for no reason with others, don't pay attention.
Edit: is it true CERO does not need to look at PC games? I don't know a whole lot about japanese censorship stuff, I know Sony itself likes to censor though.
Yes, it's true. I've extensive knowledge in this. CERO only rate PC builds if they are submitted to them, but technically, they shouldn't be rating them even then. Despite their name, they are not the ratings board for PC games. That task actually belongs to EOCS. They are most known for rating eroge (and that's how they started) but they also rate "normal" games too. Further to that, IARC are now used for PC, VR, and Switch titles (by Microsoft, Oculus, and Nintendo respectively).
The problem with Valve is that they still don't understand the Japanese rating system, so they only accept CERO ratings when they shouldn't. Technically speaking here too, Valve are violating laws when they display a CERO Z rating. This is because Valve don't perform age verification at point of purchase, but they're unlikely to get into trouble for it as Sony have since started ignoring that law, too.
For the record, the Days Gone store page does not carry a CERO rating. This, I expect, is because of the stink CERO kicked up when certain stores display a CERO Z rating for games that hadn't been submitted to them (e.g., Assassin's Creed Valhalla). At the same time as they drama, CERO Z rating started disappearing from several store pages on Steam.
As I also mention, Square Enix (and a few other Japanese publishers) know they can sell uncut on Steam. And do so, often calling the release a US import. A few however, like Capcom, stubbornly insist on submitting their PC games to CERO for rating. Hence why they wind up unnecessarily censored on Steam. That appears to potentially be the case here too.
At least with Capcom, there are a handful of legitimate third party sites that will sell the uncut ROW builds in Japan. (Green Man Gaming and Humble Bundle are not such stores).
With Day's Gone, it appears that third party stores (this time, including GMG) will only sell a Japan version and will restrict purchasing the ROW build. It's disappointing to say the least.
It might. But sadly, GOG no longer live up to their ideals of not regionally restricting titles. So it's unlikely it will be available for purchase in Japan as GOG also don't sell Japan only versions.
Nope. JP specific language versions are clearly labelled on store pages (they have to be, to prevent refunds). No such notice here.
The Japanese version has toned down violence. For example a scene where a character is attacked with a blowtorch uses a different camera angle in Japan to hide the blowtorch during the attack. You only see it before and after.
Two possible reasons for this:
1 - Japan store page still shows as a prepurchase. It's possible that someone forgot to release the game. This has happened a few times when Japan has had its own version. The worst example being FEAR 3. It took someone at Valve/WB 2 months to notice!
2 - Japanese language files are only available in the Japan only build, which is 15 gigs smaller than the WW build.
I can't tell you which of those two is the cause as I'm not buying a censored game on PC when the censorship is not legally mandatory, as is the case here.
